Dak is getting paid

Haven’t seen details yet. Just that they’ve agreed on a contract.

I understand your question and get why you're throwing out there. However, I think Dane is correct when he says what could possibly change is the Sunday Ticket deal. Not only could DirecTV lose the rights but along with an all access like Sunday Ticket is now, there certainly is a possibility that an A' la carte or per team pay per view package is offered. But that wouldn't necessarily represent greed by the NFL or it's teams, that would probably offer savings of sorts to fans who would much rather pay $200 a year to just get their out of market favorite team's games vs $400 or whatever for the entire package.

As for the networks and the NFL's relationship, I don't ever see that changing. The NFL and the networks can make much more money offering games on "free" TV than they ever could by going pay per view or anything like that.

40 plus million out of a 180 million dollar cap. What a disaster of a signing.

True to a point, but if I remember correctly, Dak always had $40 Million in mind. I'm not sure he would have signed for "just" $30 Million.

I honestly don't even think his arm is any better than Smiths, and he isn't really any better of an athlete either

The only thing he has going for him, is being willing to actually use what arm talent he does have more than Smith

Jerry boned himself caving to this guy, welcome to 10-6 at BEST and another first round exit... even Jimmie Johnson knows Dak isn't a true franchise QB

I asked this question earlier but what should Jerry have done?

They've been adding offensive weapons for the past few years and have a decent offensive line. Their defense needs to be rebuilt but they received 4 Comp Picks today and are drafting 10th, so even IF they wanted a QB, the top guys will be off the board.

I just don't get the criticism because Franchise and Hall of Fame QB's are difficult to find for any team, which is why Tom Brady is continually in the Super Bowl.

Another team would have paid Dak big money if Jerry didn’t.

I personally think Dak is about a 10-15 QB in the NFL. Occasionally a top 10 guy.

The $$$ value of NFL QBs is insane right now.

Yes in many ways Jones was hamstrung, he should've redone the deal two years ago when he wouldn't have had to pay that much for a second tier guy

Prescott also seems to have a genuine fan club in that locker room, so that also counts for much in the near term

Maybe there is no magic answer here for Dallas other than to hope Prescott lives up to the hype, but what exactly did Dak do back when they had the consensus best O line and prime Elliott?

Maybe just tag him instead of ponying up a deal better than Mahomes got, make him prove it after a serious injury

Telling him to prove it is how they got in that terrible deal to begin with.

Yeah but Dak's agent wouldn't settle for $30 million per then, so there's no way he'd have settled for that last year.

Jones didn't have a choice: Pay Dak or start all over again and sit through a bunch of 3-13, 4-12 and 5-11 seasons until they found a guy, which may or may not have even happened, considering the Bust Rate of 1st round QB's.

I don't even think it's hype. I think it's just normal expectations. And Dak didn't have any outside weapons when Zeke and the line were at their peak, which is why they traded for Cooper and drafted CeeDee Lamb.

It's not really a better deal than Mahomes deal. Sure, he got a shitload upfront and guaranteed but it's not a 10 year deal and there are two voidable years at the end of the deal.

The bottom line is that Mahomes set the market for starting QB's and it won't be long before other guys (Lamar Jackson?) are earning more.

That's just the nature of the beast.

His numbers are decent and outside of last year he’s always been healthy and steady.

Nobody thinks he’s a top 5 Qb. It’s just the market for NFL QBs right now.
