Jackson stayed at the Alameda Plaza where I was a bellman at the time. Delivered ice cream to his room each night. Funny scalpers were giving away tickets for $5. That was the height of his fame. Checking those concert dates, Elvis was at Kemper just before his death in 1977.

And these shows? They seem to be just shy of 4 hours long. No matter how much money you are making being that committed and able to put in that sort of show for that long. There is a reason people come out in these kinds of numbers.
Looks like the incel Raiders fan is having a thumbs down party to show his displeasure with anything to do with a successful woman.

Never been much of a Taylor Swift fan....my musical tastes run to more traditional Country music...

But one thing I heard and would be interested to hear from anyone who has heard her live...are her live vocals not all that good?

Early Tim McGraw wasn't so bad....but when he married Faith Hill they became more commercial. I like a lot of his music when he isn't doing duets (including Florida Georgia Line).

Most of what is playing on Country Music these days is not my thing....I was enjoying Luke Combs until someone convinced him that redoing Tracy Chapman was a good thing.

Hard to find music I like enough to buy it these days...so I listen to Sports Radio or at times talk radio.

Guess it's just a sign of getting old.

My wife took our 16 year old niece to the concert on Saturday. She said the energy of the show was off the charts and TS sounded great. It’s not really my thing, but JJ Watt went to her concert and said it was phenomenal so I don’t think it makes you a teenage girl if you enjoy her concert. She obviously cares about her fans and goes the extra mile to make sure they get their money’s worth. To do a 3-4 hour show night after night is incredible.

Our society has rejected most of its cultural touchstones, and without anything to believe in or apply themselves to, people form cult-like groups around media personalities. There is a great need for meaning and belonging that people have forgotten how to fill within themselves, and must now look for externally.

Our culture feeds off popularity and we have a mob mentality towards that. 20 years ago teenage girls and soccer moms were oogling over NSync and the Backstreet Boys, irrationally screaming at the top of their lungs at the very sight of those artists. 20 years before that it was Michael Jackson and Kiss. 20 years before that it was Elvis and the Beatles. It doesn't matter the genre of music, doesn't matter the time, you can't spell fanatic without fan and human beings will generally do what other human beings do whether it makes sense or not. Taylor is just the next performer in a long line of globally popular artists, I don't listen to Taylor, Backstreet Boys, N'Sync, Michael Jackson, Kiss, Elvis or the Beatles, none of them are on my playlists, but I see the similar trend. The South Park episode Fingerbang comes to mind and is very appropriate for explaining this type of phenomena. Hard rockers will say, "I'll never do anything like that." I remember seeing Metallica pack stadiums in their hayday with millions of fans crying and screaming for just a chance to get sweat on by James or Lars, and everytime Garth plays Arrowhead it's packed to the brim with country fans. We are who we are.

as a vocalist myself, IMO I can properly judge.

Yes, she is very solid live. She DOES have the help of a backing track on most tracks, so her vocals come in nice and thick. Is she Celine Dion? no.

There were a couple of times she got very minorly pitchy because the crowd was SO LOUD that she had to push herself to get up over the crowd. This is totally expected though from people who actually do the job.

People expect perfection and I doubt it exists, but Swift was damn close.

Yeah, I checked out of the music scene a good bit. I probably need to poke around the non-Nashville country music outlets and see if there is anything worth diving into.

On the farm I listen to a boatload of hours in there and no radio ever can keep a guy sane. Even if you can stand the programming (I typically can't) the ads will just kill a man.

Podcasts and Audiobooks are most of what I listen to these days.
