It's like when it's your turn to be the thrower during a recess game of 500 and one asshole in the crowd yells "SCOOT UP!"

Dude, Alex has no interest whatsoever in going to Cleveland
I can't embed the post because this "" emoji messes it up. But look at his response when he's asked about Cleveland at the 1:06 mark https://twitter.com/dpshow/status/95...212546/video/1 "1-31 over the last two years just sounds amazing" Last edited by Quesadilla Joe; 01-30-2018 at 11:17 AM.. There aren't any playoff teams that want Alex. His choices are only varying degrees of shitty teams: Arizona, Cleveland, New York. The Jags aren't giving up on Bortles for a 34-year old, and the Bills already have a 28-year old Smith on the roster, as do the Vikings.

I don't know if the Jags will even be able to give up on Bortles now that he's had wrist surgery. If he can't pass a physical by March 14th, the Jags are pretty much stuck with his 5th year option.

If Cleveland offers us a great deal, do it. I don’t care about Alex’s feelings. We’ve paid that guy how much? If he doesn’t like it, tough shit. Like he’s going to retire and throw $17+ million and a potential new deal away. Nope.

Alex has some say in where he wants to go because he only has one year left on his deal. The Chiefs want to get as much as they can for him and if Alex refuses to play ball on a contract extension it's going to impact how much the Chiefs will get for him. |

Wouldn't a place like Cle or someone who drafts a first round QB just want to use him for a year like we did with mahomes? No extension necessary then

If Cleveland wants Smith to be a bridge QB while they draft a QB at #1 or #4 they won't want him for more than 1 year anyway.

I'm pretty sure they don't care if Alex doesn't sign an extension. They'll pay him his $17 mil for 2018, then decided if they need to tag him for a second year or start their rookie. I bet he's only there for one year, sucks, and ends up as a backup in 2019.

I'm not sure what you mean. Seems to me Alex has no say at all because he's under contract for another year. Trading him to another team means that other team would assume ownership of that contract and they would then control Alex for another year. Alex cannot refuse to play ball while he's under contract.

Nah there will always be a team that needs a stop gap QB. Alex will be a starter for a few more years. See this teams needing a reliable band aid every year.
