Eric Berry vs. Taylor Mays

No, I'm not giving up on this season. This team isn't going to the playoffs. Plain and simple. But I'm still going to watch them and be encouraged by any progress I see. So if you want to bitch at me for starting a draft thread this early, go **** yourself in the eye with a sharp stick.

I've seen a couple Tennessee and USC games from last season. Taylor Mays looks MUCH better to me. He hits hard, wraps up, and is an athletic freak. Most boards I see though have Berry going before him. Granted, I'm not an NFL talent scout, but why is that?

Also, it would seem to me that this defense needs a big playmaker and that Taylor Mays is the perfect kind of athlete to fill that position versus a guy like Berry. Which one would be best for this team if we had an opportunity to draft either player this spring?

Well, I think you have a pretty good sample size. This isn't exactly the first season these two have been playing. Berry has been making plays his entire career. He is a football player, and a great one.

Tennessee is usually pretty good about their player sizes I just hope Eric Berry doesn't come in at 5'9.

I don't care either way which one comes to KC if they are even selected(rule #1: your mock drafts are toilet paper to Scott Pioli), but to say WE HAVE A WINNER after week 3 is ****ing reeruned.

This is true....right now Berry is ahead on my board, but I won't say I would rather have him until the end of the season/combine. Now I really won't put TOO much into the combine, but if Berry measures bad in a few things Mays could become the better pick.

I dont expect this to be the case. Even if he did though, its not that big of a deal. Hes more talented than Bob Sanders and plays like hes 6'2 anyways. He lined up at Nickel when he picked off Tebow saturday. I thought it was brilliant because he was actually covering the outside receiver the whole time when Berry lined up over the slot receiver, Tebow expected his Z receiver to be open. Tebow threw it into the ground and Berry had the quickness to dive at the ball and pick it off. Mays needs to be healthy first of all or else Berry is the best safety in the 2010 draft if he comes out. But, dont think so fast on Berry coming into the 2010 draft everybody. Berry is very happy with Monte Kiffin as his defensive mentor/coordinator. Theyve had a great relationship and that just might make Berry want to stick around for another year. Berry has his head on his shoulders very well.

Again, you realize they have played college football for more than one year, and this isn't the first year people have started to form opinions on them.

And it is very ironic for you to call anyone reeruned for declaring one of them better than the other after week three when you slob all over Sanchez at every chance and have already declared him a great QB after week 2.

If Berry comes in at 5'9 he won't be a first round pick is why I said that, 2 inches could cost him millions.

And Monte has said he would pick him #1 overall in the 2010 draft. I fully expect him to come out this year.

I think this may be an overstatement. But, he won't come in at 5'9" so it doesn't really matter anyway.

You really think so? He's listed as 5'11 1/2 or 1.82 M.

But even if he was I still would strongly believe that he would be a first round pick. Hes got more to offer than Alphonso Smith and Brandon Flowers and they both were top end 2nd round pick DB's. I think Berry is a lock for the first round no matter what draft he goes in.

Ok if he comes in at 5'9 he won't be a top 15 pick, better?
