I don't recall him ever playing on offense, special teams yes.

I don't recall him ever taking snaps even when Leinart would come out for mop up duty, Booty usually came in, him or Michael McDonald.

Why does it matter what he did in college?

Did he play reasonably well for the Patriots? Yes. Does he belong in the NFL? Yes. Does he deserve to be a starter? Most likely yes. Does he have a lot to improve upon? Yes.

If you want to say he's worse than Sanchez, that's fine. I'm personally holding off until the two at least have some reasonably equal playing ground, but I agree that Sanchez probably has the brighter future. I just don't understand why you're obsessing over invalidating him as a QB.

He still has a ton of upside. And I haven't seen anything that alarms me that he'll never reach it.

The fact that I think alot of the people that were in favor of Cassel are starting to realize Sanchez is probably better and going to be better in the future alone pisses me off.

Making the wrong call on a QB is a franchise killer.

Like I said, the decision is done. And I see no reason why Cassel can't be a very good quarterback.

Eli Manning is no Ben Roethlisberger. He's a real good QB, but he'll never be as good as Roethlisberger. And the Giants passed up on the best young QB of our generation.

But that doesn't matter anymore. Because Eli became a franchise QB himself, even if he's not as good.

In other words, who cares about Sanchez anymore? It sucks, but we need to get over it. All I'm rooting for is Cassel to become a franchise QB. Even if that means he's worse than Sanchez, I'm fine with that.

Unfortunately he's not Eli to Ben, Cassel is Jake Delhomme.

Nate Clements went there also...Korey Stringer, Joey Galloway, you can go on and on and on about all the top notch players that went to OSU with Cooper there.

Yep. Tressel has not recruited nearly as well. But, he beats Michigan. I still don't know how they beat Miami for the title. Clarett was a stud in that game though.

Sanchez has been great this year. I have to admit it.

But, 2 things stood out last week. 1) he's not used to playing in bad weather. he didnt have a towel for the wet ball to start the game (only after the ball slipped out of his hand on a throw did he and the center start wearing one) and 2) he's awful at handling the ball. he carries it like a loaf of bread. and every team will be watching tape on that for future games.

Fortunately, you can teach him to stop those bad habits. and the fact that the Jets have no really decent receivers other than Keller and Cotcherry shows just how good hes been when the Jets need him to throw the ball.

I am pleasantly surprised with him. and I have to thank that dumbass Mangini for trading that pick to us for nobodys so we could get him

I bet Mangini would love to have that pick back right now.

BTW, where the hell have you been hiding out?

I have a lot of respect for Tressel. He is an outstanding football coach in that he does a great job of preparing his team to play. They never miss tackles. They never blow assignments.

There's a few things at play here. He needs to be stripped of playcalling. And I think they've gotten killed by lack of competition, particularly in that the Big 10 is one of the least innovative major conferences in the country. So when OSU sees anything remotely unusual, they get gashed. That's why they always have so much trouble with running QBs.

Ok if I was to say do you think Matt Cassel is more likely Jake Delhomme or a top top 10 where would you place the odds?

About 2-1 that he's Delhomme?

Matt Cassel is much better looking than Jake Delhomme.
