Alex Smith: Chiefs' offensive strategy will look much different this year

Quote:
Alex Smith says the Kansas City Chiefs are always changing and in a way he's right. The Chiefs offense will change. The personnel, however, doesn't seem to be changing around him as much as other teams which is a good thing.

Alex was asked about this being his fourth year and how the Chiefs offense changes as the team's personnel changes.

"For sure, especially with Coach Reid, nothing's chiseled in rock," Alex said via quotes from the Chiefs. "We are constantly changing and constantly trying to get better. He grinds over using the talent we have and how can we make it better and put guys in good situations and take advantage of strengths. We're always changing."

The Chiefs found out last year that they have a lot of talent at running back after Jamaal Charles went down. It makes me wonder if the offense will change in a way to highlight that strength at running back.

"I think they spent a lot of time after the season," Alex continued, "looking back at the entire collection of last season, all the snaps and really, what is our identity, where do we need to go from here, what are we good at, what do we need to maybe kick out of the offense, what do we need to add on, build on, things like that. I feel like it's constantly changing."

I found this interesting: Alex said they looked at the tape of their first OTA session last year. "Very, very different the install that went in today, very different than last year's install." Hmm.

"And then obviously there's going to be a big change when you add (Matt) Nagy and (Brad Childress) in there," Alex said. "They've spent a lot of time this offseason, really, I think, trying to clean that stuff up with Coach Reid. You're always changing."

What's not changing that much is the Chiefs personnel. Jeremy Maclin is back again. Both Jamaal Charles and Travis Kelce - along with Alex and Maclin, the Chiefs most important offensive players - are going into their fourth year together. Albert Wilson is going into his third year. Chris Conley in his second year. There's some continuity on offense.

Love the gifs. Really exposes this mediocre QB for what he is. He leaves so many points on the field it is ridiculous. Tired of being fooled by his occasional ballsy game. The only hope is that D and special teams carries his ass. Other than that, we are stuck on the treadmill with this QB. Same old shit for the last 47 years. Montana is the only QB I had confidence in since I have been watching the Chiefs and he was past his prime. The only other time was when Vermeil was here but that team wasn't even close to being balanced. Just a little D and we win SB that year. That's it, all other QBs in KC have been shit and this is why we always fall short. Marty era had mediocre QBs sans Montana. We are going to waste an explosive offense with this BUM and miss a SB window...............AGAIN!

**** the Walrus is he doesn't have the balls to bench Alexis yet once benched McNabb, who was BETTER BY FAR than Alexis. Bullshit! How can you sit back and watch this offense not score points and NOT make a change to see if we can get a spark. You don't run your offense to protect your QBs FEELINGS. **** HIS FEELINGS!!!!!

No, he's really not. In every gif there is at least one guy, if not two running wide open.

Not NFL open, where you might have to throw the WR open, - but wide ****ing open.

Was anyone "open" on that still shot of the bomb to Coates?

Chiefs are 23rd in yds/play (5.1) and 29th in yds/pass (6.4).

During last year of Cassel era, we were 27th (5.0) and 30th (6.2).

Pathetic. **** this bullshit. Why was he even in the game in a 42 point blowout? I don't want to hear that the offense needed the reps. This is ****ING YEAR FOUR of being in the Walrus's system. They are so ****ing scared of a QB controversy. Why the **** did you even pick up Foles then? A player who had a lot of success and made a pro bowl playing for the Walrus? Hey Walrus, shove your "It's on me, I need to do better" speeches up your fat ass. You picked up Foles for a reason, USE HIM!!!

At least I have seen the D play better more than I have seen Alex. Those gigs prove that you can't just blindly blame the line. **** ALEX AND THE WALRUS until he grows the BALLS to make a change. Its not fair to all of the explosive talent we have on offense. **** YOU ALEXIS!!! and **** YOU REID for not benching this scrub oh, but you had the balls to bench McNabb.

And I hope BOTH of them read this shit. Matter of fact, I would tell him to his cheeseburger eating face! This is coming from somebody who "thinks" that Reid is a good coach but don't you want to ****ing win?!!! Where is the urgency?

Questionable. The 2012 Chiefs were 5th in the league in rushing.

The 2016 Chiefs are 23rd.

So basically our offense is worse than the unit that went 2-14, and yet people defend Smith like we owe him something.

This place has posted gif after gif of Smith being blind and chicken but yet he starts every week and is never pulled for any reason.

This organization sucks. No drive to win the big one.
