Cousins is a big play QB? His YPA is less than Smiths IIRC.

Broncos expected to sign Kirk Cousins
Cousins is average to slightly above average but he is nowhere close to worth what he is going to get paid so I am rooting for Denver to get him and be the next current version of Baltimore at best.

This year Alex was ever so slightly higher in an outlier year but for their career's Alex is at 6.9 Y/A and was typically low-mid 7 with the Chiefs and Cousins is at 7.7 with his 3 years starting being 7.6, 7.7, and 8.1.
Cousins is a slightly better version of Alex with more risk and less scrambling. I think you could win with Cousins because he offers that risk which will need to be taken at some point in the playoffs, where Alex will eat the sack to avoid potentially throwing a punt and take away from Colquitt. |

I’m not really convinced Cousins is better than Smith. He throws for more yards and TDs but I don’t think that he is good about it.
But even without comparing him to Smith he doesn’t seem to be good enough to overcome his INTs which you kind of have to be able to do if you are going to throw it around as aggressively as he seems to. In 2017 in games in which he threw at least one INT his team was 3-7. So that’s 4-2 when he doesn’t throw a pick. Those three wins when he threw at least one interception (all one INT games) the opponents where all home games with the opponents being SF, NYG, and Denver in the second to last week. Essentially when he throws at least one interception unless you are playing a terrible team at home, you have lost that game. In 2016 he was 4-5-1 when throwing at least one interception. Again 4-2 without INTs. In 2015 they were a terrible 1-6 when he threw at least one INT. So in three years when he threw an INT his team was 8-18-1. Those are some pretty telling indicators that if he puts you in a hole or makes a mistake he isn’t good enough to get the team out of it on a consistent or even acceptable basis. Although he may get some more yards and TDs it could very well be at the expense of ball security and winning games. |

I don't believe Cousins is a true franchise QB. Consider who made him the highest paid QB in the league and what did that team get for their money. I believe the hype on him is the cash angle, not his ability. As far as the Donks signing him, it's not a done deal and if it is, that's tampering. Lock them u --- ooops, I meant fine them and strip them of draft picks. Sorry.

Lost a must win game to Giants in week 17...on a week the NYG could have cared less and was more worried about taking the "boat picture"

Cousins makes Denver better but I don't think their D is elite any longer, still good, not elite. Makes them competitive in the division again. I understand it, just thought they'd try for a real franchise guy. Guess Elway is feeling the heat.

Alex Smith is off the table with the Redskins. They can't go with the group of trash they have now. I don't know what better options they have right now if they don't sign Cousins. |

I don't believe that the Skins have a true franchise HB, WR, or TE that can stay healthy.
In Denver that line is horrid but he'll have weapons to throw to...

With six teams pursuing him, the price could reach $30 million/year.

The numbers being thrown around are between $27 and $30M to sign Cousins. Do you (Elway) think he's worth that kind of money and will help your team that much? Only if you've been in the hooch all day. Yeah, some team will be dumb/rich/dumb and rich enough to do it, but even Horseface has his limits.

I wouldn't be shocked to see the Jets swoop in with an offer in the 11th hour...

It's because his receivers weren't getting open!

The great part is that signing Cousins will cost the Broncos Emmanuel Sanders, Talib and maybe another good player.
That’s gonna make it even harder to win games. Losing Talib is gonna be a HUGE loss to that defense and team overall. Roby isn’t even close to as good as Talib, but will be getting paid more than him if Denver can afford to extend him after signing Cousins. |
