Live sim of 85 Bears vs 2019 Chiefs

This is fun! Mecole ran back the opening kickoff, Payton just scored from midfield.

The LB were the best part of that D, and you’re taking one off the field basically 2/3 of the time.

If they stuck to the 46, it would be interesting to see how they handled the Chiefs’ passing attack.
That Bears team is not equipped to deal with modern passing concepts. The game is just too different. Andy would be scheming receivers wide open all game long.

That is weak.
Different era.. You can't compare stats from that era to this... It was much more physical back then.

That's true but let's not forget back then CBs and Safeties could get away w a lot more than they can now.

It’s kind of hard to compare eras, but that 85 Bears defense was great during the regular season and took it to a whole new level in the playoffs that season. It definitely would have been an interesting matchup.

The ratings for our o-linemen are bullshit in that game. And Tyreek Hill not getting any "x-factor" abilities is horse shit as well. Also Ward and Breeland got pretty screwed with their rating. Kendall Fuller is the best CB on our roster by a lot the last time I played.

No one in 1985 could run with Hill. ****, Id have to look but Hill might be Olympian speed. If they rough him up more at the line then they couldn’t stop a jet sweep. If Hill is healthy It’s over.

The Dolphins beat them that year with a great QB in Marino that passed more than they ran with a wide open attack that I feel that the 2019 LIV SB Chiefs are even a better offense than Marino's offense was at that time. So I think it is very fair to say that the Bears D would definitely have their hands even more full than they did with the Dolphins IF they actually played today's Chiefs.

Not really, all these teams today are too big, too fast for anything in the 80's.

Darrell Green 10.08 100m. Tyreek Hill 10.19.

Hill had Olympic caliber speed at 200m.

I think I’d like to see 19 Chiefs against other historic offenses as well.

99 Rams
89 Niners
94 Niners
91 Redskins

Etc......

Which is why you can't compare eras because if those players who played back then played today they'd be bigger and faster themselves. In 40 years, this Chiefs team will probably get smashed by whoever wins the SB at that time.

The 85 Bears were amazing and dominated in their time. We love our Chiefs but no need to disrespect the Bears by acting like this softass generation of football is better. At least back then you could actually hit the QB and play defense.

Bob Hayes ran a 10.06 100m on a dirt track over 50 years ago, he would be the fastest player today and always has been.

Jim Brown 6-2 230 which is big today, he could play.

Gale Sayers could play.

But, not too many others due to lack of size, speed.

Bears Wilie Gault ran a 10.10 100m, Hill...10.19.

I don't know if players can really get bigger and faster at this point.

The human body isn't designed to get that explosive.

If players are going to KEEP getting bigger and faster we're going to start seeing guys tendons just exploding on the field due to the laws of physics.

Gault's track time may have been faster, but I contend that on the football field, with pads and football cleats, Hill is faster.

To me there has only been 1 offensive player, and 2 defenders whose speed on the football field met the Tyreek Hill eye test, and Willie Gault isn't one of them.

Bo Jackson, Deion Sanders, and Darrell Green are the only players that I have ever seen that clearly look like the fastest in any given football game.

Gault was a long strider and had a great kick at the end of the race, on a track, with track cleats, but on the football field Tyreek Hill can hit his top speed in significantly less time than Gault.

I think Hill has the fastest acceleration ever seen in the NFL. Bo, Prime Time, and Green were all very fast, obviously, but none of them ever trained for speed the way Hill does. Even Gault as a sprinter didn't train the way Hill does. And earlier someone said Gault was an Olympic sprinter, but he never competed in the Olympics as a sprinter, because of the boycott. He did make it as a member of the USA bobsled team.

Bo is the closest to Hill for initial acceleration, but Hill is just on another level. Tyreek Hill reportedly ran a 4.22 or 4.23 in workouts before the draft. Mecole Hardman reportedly ran a 4.24 at the Georgia pro day, but when you watch Hill and Hardman make big plays, it takes Hardman about 5-6 strides to hit top speed, and it takes Hill about 4 strides.

So, you can reference all the track stats you want to, but on a football field I will take Hill over Gault all day every day. I will say that I am not old enough to compare Hill to Bob Hayes on the football field, so I have no reference to compare them.
