So...you like our chances against Milwaukee? Their first two starters have ERAs under 2...

Methhead was crying after the game about the call but he should have been crying about what causes 80% of the losses for this team and that's this terrible offense. they were 1 for 9 at one point in this game with runners in scoring position.
This game was lost last night, they had a runner at third 4 times with 1 out and were 0-4 so instead of the score being 6 or 7 or 8-1 it was 4-1 so Staumont was forced to pitch which made him unavailable in the ninth today. I love Wade, but he is cooked, he looked cooked in spring training Why was Benintendi not standing at third after that wild throw, Abreu had to run 100 yards up the right field line to get that ball and I knew Perez would not move him to third so the Soler fly ball did not score him, another run lost? |

Well GB there is always the KC Monarchs of the AA about set to start the season. Maybe change your allegiance to those Easterners on the other side of the state. At this rate you're going to blow a gasket before midseason.

.500 for this team was my idea of a successful season before it started. After the hot start my expectations got a little too lofty but I still think this is going to be a fun team to watch this summer and .500 is more than doable.

If this had been a less up and down season, people would probably feel pretty good about making a run at being a .500 team. I think most of us would have taken 18-22 at the quarter mark today.

If they had reversed the play the other day where they called Salvy out, yesterday's call would have less reaction from Matheny.
If there is an angle that is straight down the third base line, you could probably tell if Gallagher made a tag yesterday. If you showed all replays from both plays to a group of fans, players and umps and did not say what the original calls were and said choose which one of these plays should be called safe and which one should be called out, Salvy looked to touch home plate with his hand before any tag. If all the ballparks are wired for nextgen stats and can tell pitch spin rates and catch probabilites, they should have enough camera angles to rule those plays more definitively on replay. The only way Salvy was really out is if the loose laces of the catcher's mitt barely touched him before he touched home.

And it is jot just a rare example. In a Phillies Braves game the other day there was a play at the plate where the runner clearly never touched home plate but was called safe. And it was upheld in New York. The runner was clearly out.
And there have been several other examples from all over baseball already with only 1/4th of the season in the books. |
