Tyrann Mathieu reiterates he wants to stay in Kansas City at NFL Honors

Kansas City Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu — a nominee for the NFL’s Walter Payton Man of the Year Award — joined NFL Network on the red carpet ahead of the NFL Honors in Los Angeles. Mathieu is due to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason after three seasons in Kansas City.

“Obviously, the hope and the dream is to continue to be a Kansas City Chief,” said Mathieu. “We created so much history the last couple of years... I want to be in Kansas City, and I think everybody knows that.”

There is a twitter video but I am unable to post it here for some reason Follow link below.

Has anything ever come out on what the deal is with him? He went from playing Pro bowl level to part time snaps looking only respectable.

IMHO, Let him walk and resign C. Ward and go after JC Jackson. Draft Dax Hill and the secondary is complete. Use the remaining free agency and draft for Edge and DL.

I'm tired of "avoiding" my team's best players on social media because they post such stupid attention whore shit.

His on-field contributions to our Super Bowl success are WAAAAAAAY more important than ****ing Frank Clark, whose dick everybody loves to suck for one or two plays in a couple playoff games. Keep in mind we were dealing with the crater of negative energy that was the Eric Berry contract and the 2018 defense before he got here. Mathieu was the most important part of stabilizing things in the secondary and getting us to respectable enough defense to win a Super Bowl.

That won't be forgotten. But it's time for both sides to part ways on good terms. He's getting older, wants a ****ton of money that we don't have, and has gotten more annoying on social media as the years have gone on.

Yeah, we might get worse at the position next year, but we have to look to the future, not just one season at a time.

Damn near half? I can't remember a ****ing thing he did after the Ravens game besides recover a couple fumbles that were gifted to him by teammates willing to make contact as he stood near by and watched like a fan.

All of the above.

Appreciate what he did for us and helped us win a Super Bowl and get back to another one, but it's time to move on. He wasn't the same guy this year. Whether that was due to his choices or simply age, I don't know. But you don't sign guys like that to long term contracts to be one of the highest paid at their position.

You just . . . . . don't.

He was in 2019, before the injury. No reason to think he's done.

Correct, not every injury is the same. And bringing him back early could have been a mental set back.
