Kingdom was coined by Holthus years ago, depicting the area where the game broadcast reached (multi States)

Not sure it applies as a slow burn to a name change.

They ended the ceremony with Holthus leading the chop. Andy was doing the chop from the bus. They seem comfortable with the name and current imagery.

I’ve seen them win two championships as the Chiefs. Whatever else is gravy.

I could see them changing to Kansas City Knights or somethin..

I’ve always hated the kingdom nickname simply because it makes zero damn sense.

Reminds me of one of those vague NFL franchises from Any Given Sunday.

Why is the mascot name not worthy? You pick a name as a badge of honor. It’s not a negative. Why are not all bird organizations not offended by the Eagles or Seahawks? Why is PETA not offended by the Bills? Just stop. I certainly won’t be offended if they want to name the team after me.

I can't believe we're having this conversation again. We've discussed this ad nauseam and we just need to stop.

The term “Chief” comes from the Middle English, dating back to the 14th and 15th centuries. It refers to the leader, as in Fire Chief, Chief Executive Officer, etc.. It's a European term, end of discussion. Mr. Hunt chose that name to honor H Roe Bartle, known by his nickname “Chief”. For those of you that think Mayor Bartle was a racist because he once wore a ceremonial headdress, I suggest you look at his biography or at least Wiki him. He was far from a racist. The Hunt family has repeatedly reached out to local tribe leaders for their input on the name. I've been told by someone with first-hand knowledge that not one of the leaders had a problem with the name.

Which brings to both the Washington and Cleveland sports teams. Yes, the name Redskins was offensive and should have been changed much sooner. Yes, the mascot, known as Chief Yahoo, was offensive. They could have probably gotten support for the name if they had just used a realistic depiction.

I have no problem with getting rid of the Chop and the accompanying chant. Both are rather silly, much like the Wave. Keep the name Arrowhead (the GEHA Field BS can go), the Europeans, Asians, Africans, and others used them. Keep the names Kansas, Missouri, Quindaro, Shawnee, and a host of others. To change them would be ludicrous.

There will always be those, on both sides of the political spectrum, that will try to stir up trouble for some reason. Ignore them, they're trolls that give us all a bad name.

End of rant.

I would argue that, if there is to be a name change, this is the BEST time to do it. The team is really good and likely to remain so in the near future. It's unlikely the fans will drop the team because of a name change as long as Jesus is playing quarterback.

I've got no problem with the name. But the chop and the war drum are pretty dated.

I'd like to thank all the fans who have stuck with the team and will continue to do so despite thinking the chop etc are so lame.

You are leaders of fortitude and sacrifice, thank you for your nobility.

Ridiculous. You can be a huge fan of the team but not love the war chant and chop. I love my wife of 28 years whole-heartedly, but she definitely does certain things I don't like. Should I dump her because she refuses to put the silverware in the dishwasher the way I think it should be done?

I want what is best for the team and the city. In my opinion, that means getting rid of the war chant and chop. Your opinion differs, and that's ok. But negatively grouping everyone that doesn't believe the same as you and somehow coming to the conclusion that they aren't "real fans" is very lame.

false narrative.

What you want serves only your own personal feelings., not the team.

What I absolutely cannot stand is people who prattle on about cultural appropriation, or how its somehow sooo offensive to Native Americans... to them I say pleeease get over your virtue signaling, woke ass selves
