In Texas, leaving the scene of an accident, also known as a hit-and-run, is a serious offense that can result in significant penalties. The penalties for leaving the scene of an accident in Texas vary depending on the circumstances of the accident and the extent of the damage or injuries involved. Here's a general overview:
  1. Failure to Stop and Render Aid (FSRA): Texas law requires drivers involved in an accident to immediately stop their vehicle at the scene, provide their name, address, and vehicle registration number, and render reasonable assistance to any injured individuals. Failure to do so can result in a charge of Failure to Stop and Render Aid (FSRA).
  2. Penalties for FSRA:
    • If the accident involves only property damage (no injuries), FSRA is typically charged as a Class C misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of up to $500.
    • If the accident involves injury to a person, FSRA is charged as a felony offense, with penalties ranging from a state jail felony (for less serious injuries) to a third-degree felony (for serious bodily injury). Penalties can include imprisonment and fines, with the severity increasing based on the extent of the injuries.
  3. Hit-and-Run with Serious Bodily Injury or Death: If a hit-and-run accident results in serious bodily injury or death, the penalties are much more severe. This is typically charged as a felony offense, with penalties including significant fines and lengthy prison sentences, up to 20 years or more for offenses resulting in death.
  4. Civil Penalties: In addition to criminal penalties, individuals who leave the scene of an accident may also face civil liability for any damages or injuries caused by their actions. This can include compensation for medical expenses, property damage, pain and suffering, and other losses suffered by the victims.
It's important to note that the penalties for leaving the scene of an accident can be severe and have long-lasting consequences. It's always best to fulfill your legal obligations by stopping at the scene, rendering aid as necessary, and cooperating with law enforcement. If you're involved in an accident, it's essential to contact the authorities and seek legal advice as soon as possible.
Going to assume that at least one of the victims going to hospital will put this in felony territory, even if it was precautionary.

Most high end rentals require you buy insurance coverage. Probably explains why he was most likely driving the Lambo.

I think he's talking out of his ass with that one. At the very least, it had very little to do with him going in the 2nd round too.

How what works? I’m not saying he was racing or that he caused the accident. I’ll leave that up to the police and judge.

I’m saying that with everything we know in pictures and video that Rice is in FACT the red durag guy and that in FACT Rice got out of the drivers side seat of the Lambo. Those two things are facts.

The answer to all is yes. Probably why it took so long to say anything. They figured out the police know he was driving and as such made as basic a statement as possible. And if he wasn’t driving (he was) they would have simply said so as this would also be easily verified.
