But surely you agree injured Simmons isn’t worth the #1 overall, right? What about 5th overall? 10th overall? What is injured Simmons actually worth draft wise?

There are other great players playing other positions, man

If he's the slam dunk LT some say here, wouldn't he be?

Not really. Given the nature of his injury, I think he's already "off the rails". This is about putting him back ON the rails. To me, it's pretty binary - either he can play or he can't. If he is able to play, he's likely to be pretty good.

Yeah, I'm going to agree with O on this one. If Simmons was such a slam dunk to recover fully, he wouldn't have made it to KC.

Several of the talking heads thought Simmons had the best tape of any tackle in the class. Not a few, either. It was near consensus.

Right.

This is 100% all about the injury.

And if that's the case and yet he slid to 31....that's gonna say alot about the actual injury and situation

It does.

The chances of him fully recovering from this particular injury aren't good. We discussed it ad nauseum prior to the draft.

Correct

I'm hopeful, but guarded.

Injured Simmons has a place on teams draft boards. He’s like any other player. The Chiefs determined the risk and value balanced each other out enough to say he’s the best player they could take at 32 overall. That’s it.

Wondering about anything else is just overcomplicating the issue. Are you also wondering what Howie Roseman saw in Jihad Campbell that 30 other teams missed?

Agree with your point here. But Campbell also has injury concerns and comparing a MLB to a LT isn’t exactly apples to apples.

There's just no reason not to be hopeful. The time to argue about the advantages and disadvantages of drafting Josh Simmons ended the moment they turned in his card.

He's a Chief and he's really their best hope at finding a bonafide NFL left tackle. Sure it's a risk but it's a calculated one and luckily we root for a front office that has been to 7 straight AFC championship games and 3 straight Super Bowls.

By that argument, the Eagles spent a 1st round pick on an injured player at a non-premium position.

At least the Chiefs took someone with high positional value.

And gave up a 5th round pick. On that we agree.

The less you bet, the more you lose when you win.
