This is where we were in March 2016 during that year's whining. Not going to do the exact math (Kansas has gained on Duke/Coach K and MSU/Izzo since then and lost some to UNC/Roy), but they are certainly no underachiever in the tournament.

I guess that would depend on how you define "tournament success."

Villanova has made it out of the first weekend just twice over the last ten years (and missed the tournament entirely once), UConn has made it out of the first weekend three times over the last ten years (and missed the tournament entirely three times). Kansas obviously blows both of those programs out of the water in that regard.

Since 2000 is disengenuous since Roy had 9 of them. So Roy since 2002 has 49 wins and Self has 36. Quite a gap. Self has won a lot of games vs low seeds because he's always a 1 or 2. Rarely beats a peer team in the Tourney tho.

He's like 18-4 vs top 5 teams in regular season so that's obv a HUGE, incredible stat in his favor. Something is broken in the tourney for him tho.

Uconn has 3 final fours and 2 national championships since self became our coach. Villanova has 2 final fours and 1 national championship.

BTW, can anybody tell me what the huge difference between a Final Four and an Elite Eight is other than the right to call yourself the 3rd loser rather than the 5th loser? If you're not the one team winning the title at the end of that tournament, it all ends in disappointment anyway.

But there is no shortage of upsets when you look at the Jayhawks’ tournament record. Kansas has a 27-11 record in the tournament since 2005, but has lost to a lower-seeded team nine times, and all of those losses have come before the Final Four. When playing as a higher seed, Kansas has lost 28 percent of the time, the highest percentage of any team to reach multiple Final Fours.

This has been hashed out before. Of course KU has the highest percentage of losses as the higher seed. That's because they have consistently been a high seed. Duh. It's hard to lose to higher seeds when you are a lower seed.
