Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started. Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. I've seen guys do it before like that, but most I've seen prefer antagonist pairings like chest/back, bi/tri. Not sure how that dude does Legs and Shoulders on the same though, unless intensity and volume is super low.

Redundancy in motion contributes to easier fatigue of major and minor muscle groups and doesn't allow each of the individual muscle groups to be pushed with maximum resistance/weight. I've found that I can go heavier with each muscle group, as well as very effective supersetting. I know I like it a lot more than the shared muscle group workouts. |

Leg cramps (mainly in calves). Besides increasing water intake, what else would help prevent them? They are so not cool when you're in the middle of a set on the leg press.
