Dwayne Bowe reaches agreement with Chiefs?

Source: Dwayne Bowe reaches agreement with Chiefs
Holdout seen flying to Kansas City Friday

UPDATED 4:14 PM CDT Aug 10, 2012

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -
Holdout wide receiver Dwayne Bowe has reached agreement with the Kansas City Chiefs over his contract dispute, a source has told KMBC 9 News.

Bowe, who has missed all of the team's training camp, was spotted flying to Kansas City on Friday afternoon.

Bowe, 27, had been holding out while trying to get a long-term contract. He did not sign one before the league deadline for a long-term deal expired last month.

The Chiefs named him their nonexclusive franchise player last spring, which meant the team would have to offer him a one-year contract that would make him one of the five highest-paid players in the league. He could negotiate with other teams, but the Chiefs would have the right to match the offer or get two first-round draft picks as compensation.

The Chiefs have not yet confirmed that Bowe has reached an agreement with them.

The team plays its first preseason game of the year against the Arizona Cardinals Friday night at Arrowhead Stadium.

We went years and years without a WR worth a shit. Now that we have one I'd like to keep him. I think Baldwin will be good, but I want Bowe and Baldwin both. Cassel needs all the help he can get.

Bowe holding out when nothing can be negotiated is pointless. He has to play in KC if he wants to play this year, and his performance will suffer since he doesn't know the system. This will effect his future contract here or elsewhere. Bowe is a great talent, but his decision here is very questionable.

At this point, Baldwin is shit. He hasn't done anything yet. I don't think it would be a good idea to give up on an all pro wr, for a guy who might be good one day.

Dumbest shit ever.

He is literally the only wide receiver we have had for the last 5 years. (apart from Breaston last year, who's impact is questionable)

GTFO.

Guy was 95th in drop rate last year, and started 2012 by dropping a pass in preseason.

He's our most proven offensive skill weapon. Of course he's important.
I don't give a shit if he's the next coming of Randy Moss. If you aren't a team player, you can play elsewhere. I love it as much as the next guy when Bowe breaks off an amazing YAC play. But no player, no matter how talented, is above the team. Pioli should be discussing his future with the Dolphins.

Yeah I don't get it. Take the 9 mill, get to camp an learn the offense, then play your ass off. Then after the season you get your big contract - here or somewhere else. Holding out now just hinders his chances of having the best season he can, which will hurt his contract next summer. He's basically robbing himself by not doing everything possible to have a huge year. Don't know if its him, his agent, or both, but the way they're dealing with this reeks of stupidity.

Wow.

This isn't high school football. What has shown Bowe not to be this team player you think he isn't?

He's stuck around, shitty qb after shitty qb and not said a word about it. He's worked his ass off and made plays for this franchise.

I don't give a shit what he's doing off the field, I don't have any grand illusions that these guys are great people. I love watching them play football for a team I like.

Bowe is likely holding out, trying to get a concession where he can't be tagged next year.

He wants and pretty much deserves a big contract. Players have to get them while they can.

I don't fault him at all.

The Chiefs have been pimping this guy for two weeks as a freaking beast, talking shit on writers who criticize the regime for not getting Bowe locked up.

And what does he do in preseason game one?

Defer to Dexter McCluster.

Waiting to be impressed, seriously.

i love this shit

bowe isn't a team player for having the audacity to exercise his rights, the team meanwhile that is renting him and forcing him to risk injury without a long term deal is not to be judged....

and for the record, these dumb things never get said about bowe....except on every thread about bowe EVER...
