X and O Guys - How Did Denver Just Shut down the Chiefs Blitz?

All with football acumen please help me understand. Why didn't the Chiefs Defense touch 5 head, neck bone at least once or twice?

The plan to counter the pass rush was to have quickly developing pick plays with rapid progressions to get the ball out off Manning's hand in under three seconds. So quit crying about the Chiefs pass-rush like it was remotely the problem. It wasn't. Nor was Sutton's gameplan. Against Manning with that plan, you have to man up and beat the receivers. Problem is, there are five matchups on any given play and the receivers get paid, too. If everyone on the defense succeeds 80% of the time, one guy will get open every play on average.

The bottom-line is that the defense forced three-and-outs and stifled the offense for a good portion of the game. But the offense couldn't keep them off the field or capitalize on critical opportunities against a weak-ass defense.
So answer me this. How are other teams getting to Manning and we cant...

SD hits the shit out of him, They don't even need to wash his Jersey after we play him...

Maybe because they come up with different gameplans for different teams? The gameplan for them was to make our offense beat their defense and it worked. Maybe you should just watch the game before you try providing commentary about it.

Manning, coming into this game, had a 73% completion rate.

He completed less than 50% this game because the plan against this defense was to get the ball out.

He "held" the ball for 2 seconds or less on half of their passing plays, "held" t for 2.5 seconds or less on all but 2 or 3 plays.

That's getting the ball out quick, even for him.

Simply put, if there's nothing there, just get rid of it.

This. Denver knew that the best way to beat this team was to get rid of the ball quickly on offense....and then make our offense beat their defense. When Denver played Indy and lost....it was because their defense couldn't stop Luck. Therefore.....Manning couldn't dink and dunk against them.

If we would have had any semblance of an offense against Denver....we would have won.

I'll agree that they need to improve, and that also means that they are going to have to be more aggressive.

When you're on the road against the top offense in the league, you have to take a bit more chances- especially when you are trailing the entire game.

They should have:

Gone for the touchdown on 4th and goal at the 1 yard line.

Attempted to long field goal, in Denver with the things air, at the end of the 2nd quarter.

Down 14 points, sitting at the Denver 41, they should have gone for it on 4th down. We ended up punting the ball and it easily turned out to be a touchback. Colequitt all game was doing fine with kicking for a good distance, but it was apparent that he was having trouble punting the ball to pin them back inside the 20. He ended up overkicking it of quite a few of his punts. He just didn't have a good handle on dropping the ball where he wanted to.
Down 2 scores, and given the field position on the road you gotta take that chance and let the cards fall where they may.

And then there were the people who believed it was the defense's JOB to score points in this ****ing game.

An offense that can not surprise and that can not execute, and that can not sustain a drive, isn't going to fare well against teams that have even a respectable defense and an offense that CAN.

We've been handed a LOT of "any given Sunday" this year, and I fully expect that well to dry up for the remainder of our games.

Very true, our offense is a complete joke. The worst part is, it isn't even just the QB. Our receivers HAVE to lead the league in drops.

THIS is sooo true. Also we finaly had a game where EVERY break didn't go our way. The turnover made a whole different scenerio.

Oh , and also Denver cheated.

What if , we're gonna pull a Ravens / Flacco scenerio. AJ jenkins as well as Marcus Cooper are secretely training to be long ball recievers and Smith is just making all the other teams think he can't throw deep.

We're already playoff bound , the rest of the regular season means squat, really. Win 2 more and we're in. Nobody will remember if we went 11-5 ,12-4. We will get in and turn our shit loose on the rest of the league and Hunt, Dorsey and Reid will give a big L to everyone else.
