On another note, I am still trying figure out how to get my subscriptions to update automatically. Drives me nuts that I have to go to 1channel, TV Shows, supscriptions, update subscriptions to get it all to update.

I guess I'm looking to find the best and least expensive to access the media inthe nas. The main comp would go downstairs in our den, hook directly into our AV receiver and TV. I wil also do some lite gaming w the kids on it. |

If you're wanting to do it cheaply, you might look at the RaspberryPi. Probably the cheapest option, and they run XBMC just fine.
No real gaming on a RPi though. You might consider the Ouya if you're wanting games. They run XBMC about as well as the GBox, and you can play games with it. I've heard there aren't tons of games, and the controller isn't the best. But it's pretty cheap.

Using a pi on tv upstairs is what I thought about also we use the downstairs tv the most as it has our home theater setup. Upstairs is just our bedroom tv. I think I understand how the pi would access the nas and the htpc, I don't really how the OTA signal from the antenna/dvr function would work Also am I spending to much on the htpc I would use it for lite gaming w kids Bluray playback/ripping Audio quality is important downstairs bc of my investment/hobby W audio equipment and play will a lot of music on it |

Pandora add on is pretty cool. @NewChief That is my biggest frustration with XBMC. Because it is open source, these manufactures can uses it and mod it the way they see fit. Conversely, they can send it out broken and expect the community to fix it for them. Which is exactly what happened on the G Box.

Sportsdevil is the shit.
There's also a plugin called VideoDevil, which is a similar setup except just porn. Mashup is a good one too. It does pretty much everything that 1Channel does, with the addition of extra stuff like live streaming TV, Kids only media, concerts, etc. An incredible up and coming plugin is called iStream. This plugin can do anything. If you tinker with it enough, you could customize iStream to do everything your other plugins do and centralize it into one location. You can use functions of other plugins. Like if you searched for a movie, it would present results from multiple plugins, like 1Channel, Icefilms, and others. Hard to describe in text, but it's awesome. Here's a video example, might give you an idea, but I haven't watched it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMKiWllVLrI&noredirect=1 My favorite is What the Furk, but it requires a monthly subscription to Furk.net.

Makes me wonder what was so special about their "enhanced edition"

I saw a few reviews that explained it, but I don't reLly remember what they said. Optimized for TV streaming I believe was one of the supposed features.

Here's one of the reviews with the claims about the xbmc install that comes with gbox:

The GBOX path to your app data files is insane. To find them, you'll need to enable "show hidden files" in your settings. Here is some information on finding the userdata file on the gbox. It's buried like a mofo: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title...older_and_logs Quote:
