Crennel on QBs

JoshLooneyJosh Looney

Crennel has not decided on a starting quarterback for Sunday vs. GB. #Chiefs

kentbabbKent Babb

Crennel doesn't rule out starting Ricky Stanzi against the Packers.

At this point, winning any game with Orton will do nothing good to this team as our playoff hopes have vanished and as far as I`m concerned, we want to have the highest pick possible for a chance to draft a top QB prospect.

Winning with Stanzi would at least give this team encouragement for next year and the future.
Its all about selling tickets for the next 3 games.

I disagree that the TEAM doesn't benefit from Orton. With a new head coach coming in, many of these guys are playing for their jobs and future right now. They want the best opportunity to win now.

A good portion of the fan base seems to be convinced that it's all on Haley. Cassel was "good enough" last year with Weis and Haley ran off Weis.

Congratulations Scott, your little ruse worked to perfection.

Makes it sound like Haley was really just sticking it to someone with Palko. Romeo puts him behind Stanzi already. Maybe Haley didn't like Stanzi.

The ultimate problem with the Chiefs fan base is that they are alright with good enough.

Explain to me how does that benefit the team. The fact that many of our guys will give supposedly a greater effort this time and maybe play well benefits this team overall going ahead??

Totally agree.

The only way this team becomes a contender every year is to draft a top QB prospect and this is the perfect year to do it (Cassell has shown he is awful, we will have a high enough draft pick (trading up will require a lot but it can be done), we haven`t drafted a top QB prospect in years, if we do not adress the QB position now, well in 3-4 years Hali, Johnson, and others will possibly be on the downside of their career).

Yet, I see so many Chiefs fans say they would be content with us drafting a LT or another position if the QB we want is not there.

The line benefits from having a QB that has experience reading NFL defenses and blitzes and who played GB 2 months ago. The WRs benefit from having a QB that has shown he can get WRs the ball in the NFL. The D benefits from not being on the field as often as they would under a rookie QB who will make rookie mistakes.

There's a great many who would want to draft a LT even if the QB we want IS there.

Orton is the most conservative choice.

But this shouldn't be about being conservative.

It should be more about taking risks. Your team is 5-8. WTF do you have to lose by playing a rookie QB with three games remaining?

Orton is what he is, an average quarterback. You don't know what you have in Stanzi, but you drafted him, so why not play him?

Whats there to lose? He sucks, he sucks. So what? And if he is good, then all the better, and Romeo looks like a genious for playing him and everybody will love him after.

If the decision was to start Stanzi, and he ends up playing well, wouldn't it be more gratifying and rewarding for Crennel? Im looking at this with a different perspective.

You are asking a lot for a guy who got the gig on Tuesday to come in and immediately start a rookie QB. Todd should have broken the ice in week 1.

That`s why I said Romeo puts his interest before the team.

We do not expect nothing from Stanzi. If he does well, that`s an encouraging sign for the future. If he is bad, well we perfectly understand it and he`ll have other chances in the future.

Nothing good can come of playing Orton. Selling tickets?? Hell, I`d buy a ticket ten times more if Stanzi was actually starting but maybe Chiefs fans think otherwise?
