Dorsey understands positional value. He's not going to take a guy like Reggie Ragland at 28 to take Mauga's job. That's a ****ing waste. As would taking a LG.

Dorsey is using that approach because we have pro bowl caliber players all over our starting lineup. He's not drafting for the ****ing Browns.

He took Peters and Morse who started as rookies and were exceptional. It just so happens it worked out that way.

He might've taken a guy like Treadwell if they made it to 28, but why trade up and sacrifice depth? That's the thing that costed us most last season, and he addressed it.

Also, how does taking Jones not make our DL "a unit that other teams can't account for?"
Could have taken Jack to play next to dj and take over for him.
I'm guessing his knee is a time bomb so they didn't wanna go there.

Huh? It has been reported by multiple sources that Dorsey tried to trade up to get Treadwell.

Or just didn't see ILB as a need.

Dorsey did take 2 of those a year ago and they just might like em.

No matter how many guys you draft you aren't going to get a roster full of backups who play as well as starters. You don't want them to be Fleming-esque disasters, but at some point, you're just sinking all of your assets into a contingency that won't reap great rewards even when needed.

If you want a simpler analogy, think of it this way: in a team sport, a dollar is worth more than four quarters.

What starters did the Chiefs pass up for depth?

I'm really curious.

Yeah, but even if it's not a need, at that point, the value is pretty crazy with how good he is.

The value of a talented guy with a bad knee is apparently the second round.

I think KC made the right choice. I think he's destined to be another Bowers.

I'd say passing on a guy like Nkemdiche, who has star potential, for Jones and a fourth is a good example of that. Trading out of the second when Vonn Bell was there is another.

Honestly, I'd get passing on Nkemdiche if you're worried about character, but given their choices in this draft, you can't exactly say that the Chiefs are taking guys off the board for character concerns.

Again, this is not a bad draft. It's a yeoman's effort. But I don't think it's going to produce foundational players, either.
