You live in Canada, right? Can you reach out the people over in Montreal and ask them if they still celebrate the 1994 Champion Montreal Expos? Maybe post a shirt or something from their ‘championship’ season. Cause we all know if you finish the year #1 or with the best record, that team ALWAYS comes out on top in the post season tournament, right?

False analogy in two ways: that’s a professional league without polls (or a history of awarding champions based on polls) and the 1994 Expos only completed half a season (rather than the full regular season completed by Kansas in 2020).

Regardless, that team did put an appropriate banner up for that year. They weren’t champions similar to 2020 KU basketball or 1997 Nebraska football but they were the best team in 1994:



KU was the champion in 2020 by any measure, standard or poll (and also a champion by the very same measure college teams have been awarded championships for decades). This is why such beautiful championship memorabilia is available:

Heh, I almost said "stretches", since I also didn't count Kansas' Orange Bowl and knew Missouri had the SEC Championship game appearance. I didn't think about the two years in a row though.

So, to be fair, I looked at the 131 seasons of college football and found 13 seasons of good 'stretches'.

Let the record show I'm modifying my original statement:
"...fans of a school that's mediocre in football 90% of the time..."

Just because your slimy AD promised more ticket sales and worked back channels to get KU into an Orange Bowl that they didn’t earn on the field.

We ALL watched Mizzou and Kansas play each other in Arrowhead at the end of that year and we ALL saw how it turned out. On the field, head to head, Mizzou was clearly the better team. You know it. I know it. Everyone knows it.

It’s why Mizzou also finished ahead of Kansas in the final polls that year after blitzkrieging a Darren McFadden led Arky team, despite winning a ‘lesser’ bowl.

The funny thing is most of the other rational KU fans here recognize the COVID Title is just what it is, something to have fun with and think of ‘what might have been’ in 2020. You and a couple others are the only ones to take the whole ‘Champion’ thing seriously.

And we all know you’ll go to any means (see LeBron better than MJ, 2015 Jays better than 2015 Royals, etc,) to try and convince anyone that doesn’t agree with you why they’re wrong (usually by posting Twatter opinions).

KU’s AD actually doing his job doesn’t appear to be evidence of cheating to me. Seems like evidence that MU’s AD wasn’t doing his though.

Both were/are college sports without championship games and season ending polls that decided who was the champion. The comparison is clearly a valid one. Why should the best overall team KU be penalized for the NCAA’s inability to have a championship game any more than 1997 Nebraska was?

So you argument for COVID ‘champion’ is since NCAA once had polls to determine champions in basketball, KU’s ‘championship’ in 2020 is valid even though college basketball has been using said same system to determine a ‘Champion’ since 1939?

We just ignore the past 80 years of college basketball determining a champion because COVID??

And make irrelevant comparisons to college football, which has always used a different system (post season bowl games) and is a completely different sport.
