The MVS no call is the worst no call I've ever seen

How in the **** do you not call that? I've never ever seen such an obvious penalty by a DB in my life, and I've watched some shitty as corners in my Chiefs fandom.

Just unbelievable

Was there this much outcry about officiating in the 1990's? Or is it about the same except now we regularly use internet to complain? From memory, refs blew as many calls then as they do now.

Officiating in the 90’s was much more consistent than it is now. They let the players play more and didn’t call PI nearly as much as they do now. The problem with the officiating today is the inconsistency, I’ve seen 100 PI penalties called for much less than what happened to MVS. The officials seemed much more competent back in the 90’s and even 2000’s.

Part of the problem is that NFL refs are part time employees--mostly business execs and lawyers. Since it is not their main source of income, they have no real incentive to be good at their job.

There is always outcry about officiating, in every sport. During baseball season, people claim that umpiring has gotten worse every year when in reality, it is worlds better today than it has been in the past. Of course, the k-zone on TV (which is horrible at the top and bottom of the zone) is as much to blame for that as anything.

I generally agree, but I'll also point out the fatal flaw that referees make the calls live on split-second notice, while we as fans get to see half a dozen angles of slow motion replay 20 seconds later. Any mistake will be identified immediately, such as a defender nailing MVS in the back to prevent him from winning the game on a long touchdown catch. We can see that quickly.

When the Chargers played the Ravens the Chargers got absolutely fist****ed. I wasn't paying as close of attention to the line for holding and whatnot, and their ****ings were early in the game and in less leveraged situations, but some of those calls were in the neighborhood of as bad as ours.

And I was rooting for a Chargers loss. The refs are a joke.

What a Mike Florio-esque thing to say.

I'm only gonna put up with this shit about 15 more years.

Ok bruh.

Andy Reid took an 8-3 squad on the road against a bad football team ravaged by injuries, and it looks like the same amount of seriousness he approached the donks game with. The opposing offense came out, ran the football right down our throats, causing another ludicrously short game where possessions are at a premium.

Andy, the situational football savant that he is, responds to this by ONCE AGAIN waving the white flag in enemy territory and settling for 3 points twice, resulting in another putrid half of points production.

Andy Reid is going to have to get aggressive if he wants this squad to produce points. He's also going to need to have someone teach him the concept of keeping Rashee Rice on the field in critical 3rd down situations.

We should have mopped the floor with the Green Bay packers, but instead we have a classic Andy display of poor preparation for a bad team, surrendering on offense, and making the most asinine personnel decisions in big down and distance situations. Steve Spagnuolo coached the gane like his balls were in a vice grip and would be crushed if he put pressure on the opposing qb. His squad looked punch drunk all night, getting rocked over and over and over with the corner screaming to get your ****ing guard up and those pleas going ignored.

We played down to the packers and they beat our asses. Convincingly.

Cry about officiating if you like, bit that's a losers errand engaging in that shit.

The refs are bad. They've always been bad. It rarely stopped us from imposing our will offensively in the Mahomes era. The refs aren't the problem, it's the personnel we have and the decisions being made with said personnel that are raising the degree of difficulty unnecessarily.

Chiefs got two calls in that last drive that benefitted them greatly. Those two calls on the sidelines should have never been called. No way they could call 3 strait plays for the Chiefs and they don't call the obvious one. Refs were horrible all night but especially that drive. PM took the high Road in the post presser. They need to have these refs under the spotlight more. There's billions being made on gambling and just a few refs have way to much control of the outcome. They need to make penalties reviewable.

Wait, are you saying that the hit on Mahomes was NOT unnecessary roughness? You realize they make that call with the QB running OOB 99 outta 100 times, right? It doesn't matter what time we are at in the game - it gets called.

You’re right, I also don’t remember the announcers openly talking about a missed call or a bad call like they do now. It seems like, during the broadcast, they scrutinize the officials more now than they ever did before. I’m honestly surprised the NFL hasn’t made them stop openly criticizing their officials, it’s a bad look for their product.

I see detailed breakdowns of complete game balls/strikes show up on my social media feeds quite often. Umps getting massive amounts of positive responses for doing a great job. The only ones I see getting hammered by more than the usual emotional spur of the moment loss fans are the the terrible ****s who use the union and race card with threats of legal action to keep their jobs.

Maybe they exist, but I've never seen detailed breakdown on the NFL stripes. If they don't have to do post game pressers, it's beyond time someone starts calling out the bullshit in another way.
