We don't know if Simmons was a full or partial tear but it does seem like it may have been partial like Clady

Based on what we knew leading up to the draft, there was no reason to really believe that was the case, other than hope.
In the end, all we really have is hope.

And our hope has been rewarded over and over again.

That's why I choose to remain hopeful.

I think the clean surgery talking point the Chiefs used is very important.

Take Drake Jackson. He tore his patella tendon 2 years ago and hasn’t come back. This article outlines that his knee has not been healing well post surgery, so much so that he couldn’t pass a physical 2 years later.

https://www.si.com/nfl/49ers/news/49...g-01jn6s9jrfyj

We haven’t seen a single issue like this with Simmons. In fact he was moving around nicely at his pro day and at rookie minicamp. His recovery seems to be right on track.

I think the surgery is extremely important as mentioned previously. I remember listening to the Dr that was on with Sterling Holmes saying a mere millimeter off on the surgery could have profound issues in recovery with strength and agility.

Damn we still crying about his knee and how a few people are butthurt? Get over it...Chiefs drafted him, be happy.

That being said, I can see it know.....Josh has a bad game his rookie year-FEW CPers will point to the knee "I told you so"....5 years from now Josh has a bad game-FEW CPers will point to the knee " I told you so"......Josh's final year of a 12+ year HoF career he has a bad game.....FEW CPers will point to the knee "I told you so" and "Could have played for 20 years if it wasn't for his knee, I TOLD YOU SO".

Josh Simmons has a false start....."HIS KNEE HIS KNEE, I TOLD YOU SO!"

Josh Simmons misses a game because his wife is in labor....."HIS KNEE HIS KNEE, I TOLD YOU SO!"

Stock market crashes "HIS KNEE HIS KNEE, I TOLD YOU SO!"

Honestly, I think most people will be pleasantly surprised if those things happen because they imply that he's actually on the field.

A lot of the detractors, myself included, were/are concerned about whether or not he will even be able to get on the field.

However, upon examining Simmons, their tune changed dramatically, according to Veach. That's quite significant, more significant than some seem capable of or willing to acknowledge.
I don't think it's really that significant. It could just be that they thought there was no chance he'd recover, but after examining him they believe there is a 50/50 chance. Because a lot of teams could benefit from getting a LT and none of those teams had a medical staff that thought he'd be worthy of a 1st round pick. What did the Chiefs medical team see that no other team saw?

According to Veach, in the immediate aftermath of Day-1, the Chiefs scouts got word from some other teams who were prepared to take Simmons at the top of the second round, essentially the same range where the Chiefs grabbed him. So I'd wager those teams saw the same thing medically as the Chiefs but felt he was a better value early round 2 vs early round 1. That would also explain why the Chiefs didn't trade back any farther than 32. Simmons was their guy.

based on…?

IMO The ONLY way that happens is if Jaylon Moore comes out and wins the position through competition. Who knows, maybe that happens and we move him for a quality pick next offseason.

But every single tea leaf seems to point to Simmons being the day 1 starter.
