Adding insult to a blowout loss...#Oregon giving Jameis a shoutout with the "no means no" tomahawk chop chant. Video in link. It was done outside of camera range but someone caught it.

PASADENA, Calif. (AP) -- Several Oregon players are facing team discipline after celebrating their Rose Bowl win Thursday night by mocking Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston and allegations of sexual assault that have followed the 2013 Heisman Trophy winner the past two years.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/0...n_6405182.html

This is what you call a witch hunt.
Is there a requirement to shake hands after a football game? I know every has to in little league baseball, but they don't in the majors, so there's no set rule on it to say the least. In wrestling it's a well know suggestion to be there to shake hands and have the winner's hand then raised by the official. And occasionally I've seen a depressed football player stay on the bench to ponder life as the others smile a kiss at the 50 - yet they remain employed.

And I only ask because I've never been to thrilled to watch our Chiefs get their asses kicked then be Mr. Nice Guy afterwards. Poor sport?? Perhaps, but I'm not sure a DE should want to shake hands with a guy who just held him for 10+ plays "and now all is forgotten"!

So, whatever these guys are being accused of happens everyday in baseball, so the question needs to be asked, is it really all that bad?

And last, if all this post-game love is needed perhaps the officials should refrain from running to their locker room and mill around smartly amongst the varying levels of players and team leadership and squeeze some skin.

I'm not offended, these guys don't need to shake hands for me to like them, and if they don't shake hands I'm fine with it... If one player is offended by it, if they meet again, hit them all the harder on the field and tell them they'd have gone easy on them but "you didn't shake my hand last year"!!!

What is five years of getting the best coaching, training, access to facilities, and weekly televised auditions for jobs that pay millions of dollars a year worth?

As much as I hate them, I hate them because they think outside the box and are willing to do whatever it takes to build a powerhouse team. MIZZOU basketball, for example, might want to look at this and realize that a slight hand-slap might be worth it. Not that you don't keep doing other things too, but I find the problem being that when only one team is stretching the limits of the rules (and even thumbing their noses at the establishment) and only getting slight hand-slaps, that you have to do the same or end up being a non-powerhouse. And let's face it, to the college "college sports" is as much about getting their name out there as it is anything else. And when you're in a less than awesome physical location, it's difficult to get great high school prospects to come there to play instead of a sexier city (to an 18-year-old). IOW, what awesome kid from Anytown, USA wants to play in Ames, IA instead of L.A. or Miami? You have to give a basketball prodigy a reason to want Lawrence, KS for their college years instead of Miami - and KU's basketball program is one hell of a good reason to suffer Lawrence, KS!

Anyway, **** Oregon and them thinking outside the box!

If its not worth it, don't play college football. Go sack groceries instead of quarterbacks.

How many companies employ people who get to use expensive machinery they couldn't otherwise afford on their own? Should we not pay them either?

OSU fan here, what a hell of a game. With a 3rd QB and beat the #1, anyone who is saying they dont belong is a blatant dumbass.

That being said, Oregon offense is too powerful.

I don't know. Are they interns learning a trade in the process so that they can turn around and make millions of dollars the next year?

If you're looking for an intelligent discussion on something, don't look to ReRun or Saul. It is pointless.

Fortunately the world is moving away from te idea players are mindless drones who should do what they're told and shut their mouths. Stipends are here, and a cut of the revenue is only a matter of time. In 30 years we will look back and laugh at the old arguments.

They get a cut of revenue now. Giving them a very slightly larger cut isn't going to change the argument materially.

With the law suits you have to wonder what the football landscape will look like in 30 years regardless. So the guys who hit the frozen tundra wearing bubble suits might not be commanding the same coin they do today. Who knows, maybe they earn more (cost-shifted of course) than today because they can run a bubble-suited 40 in under 4.4...
