You should have put the card logo in front of him, and all the rest out on the front porch, and tell him he can pick, but if he has to go outside the door might be locked when he tries to come back in.

Most people are stuck with their teams they had as kids, for better or worse. Nothing worse in fandom than a bandwagon fan.

Although my son grew up in KC, we had no ties to the area before the move other than my love of the Chiefs. I grew up in Springfield listening to Jack Buck and Harry Carey on KMOX radio. Don Glass is about my age and grew up in Springfield too about 1/2 mile from my house.

My son is a 5th generation Cardinals fan that has already got to see his team win a World Championship live. That'll hook you as a fan.

We had a blast wearing our Cardinals gear all around Chicago a couple of weekends ago on vacation. It's too bad the Royals never moved to the Central when they had a chance. It could have made for a good long time riviraly.

True. I would LOVE being the cellar of the NL Central instead of the cellar of the AL Central.

I bet you would be drawing more fans to the ballpark and increasing your revenue in the process to allow you to compete.

Look at the competition in the NL Central. Other than St. Louis, you have:

1. The Cubs. I mean, they're the Cubs. They could have a billion dollar payroll and still suck.
2. The Asstros. Much like Cleveland, they have completely imploded. I don't know if they'll get back to where they were a few years ago. And since I hate them, I certainly hope not.
3. The Reds. Getting better, but always with glaring weaknesses. I can't remember the last time they made the playoffs.
4. The Pirates. Enough said.
5. The Brewers. Would still be in the AL Central had KC switched.

Yeah, I just saw that. I guess he gave up the homer to the first batter he faced. Nice job by LaRussa as well - apparently he's the only person on earth who doesn't realize Motte sucks.

Sounds like Penny had a pretty good first game for us, though. No offense today, unfortunately.

Next time Motte should just throw it harder.

That's pretty much his solution to any problem.

meh, no need to jump off any cliffs yet. Offense is going to have off days but over 162 games we are going to rock and roll.

It's great that Penny had a good first game. He's really important come playoff time. If he is the old Penny come playoff time, with our offense and a rotation of Carp, Waino, the old Penny...we'd be dealing.

We have some games to figure out a closer. I like Kyle getting the first shot. We can blow some games late and still win the Central. We need to have an established closer come October but its not crucial in April.

If McClellan can handle the closer role, then Franklin goes back to the 8th inning job he's actually fairly well suited for. Boggs and the lefties could handle the 7th, Motte/Hawksworth can handle the 6th and mopup.

I wouldn't be opposed to sending Motte down and signing Springer. Tell Motte that he's going to get cut if he throws anything other than breaking balls in AAA. He can't just keep throwing that straight heat and rolling slider.
