Posting Political/Religious Threads in the Main Forum

Eventually a mod shows up to move the damned thing, but this has been happening way too much lately.

We have a special playground for all your politards and bible thumpers/haters for a reason.

I propose that from this point forward people who do this should lose their thread starting privileges, at least temporarily.

I'd say lying and claiming that I established any prefix "standard" is a rather obvious character flaw. Being delusional is merely a personal failure beyond your control.

I'm betting you are lying, but who knows.

I don't think any of them enjoy it. And as much as I'd like to torment the shitbags I hate and then eventually ban them once I got bored with it, I realize that no moderator could do that and remain a moderator for very long. It's kind of like not being able to go around shooting assholes just because I have a gun. With power comes responsibility.

Besides, I derive plenty of enjoyment from just driving them insane.

My dad once told me Religion is like Masturbation.
1. It should never be brought up in casual conversation.
2. It's something that should be done privately or with like minded people.
3. I know it's your right to do as you wish, but just try not to get any on me.

I think religious threads along with politics should stay in the DC forums where no one as to see them on the main page that doesn't want to. I can understand a N00b coming in for the first time as I was once and rep bombed and ostracized in a huge flaming thread take over should be given a chance without a banning. BUT, if they continue without recourse then a banning it should be.

So, I guess I'm gonna vote yes with a condition. ONE chance, just one should be enough along with a rep bombing from everyone on the boards to change the mind. If not then let the ban hammer fly!

That's basically the same way that "media center" or "pictures" threads are handled. They live in the Lounge for a while, but eventually get moved over when appropriate. That practice predates me by a long time.

I guess I don't really understand what the debate is about.
It is a judgement call. I might disagree with a Mod's judgement in a given case, but it's your call not mine.

But I think Frazod's poll was a question of changing the protocol to stop the relatively recent trend of posters who know better but have chosen to move their religious or politics topics out into the Lounge.

Since there really isn't any reason for a DC regular to accidentally post a political thread in the Lounge, any thread that shows up in the Lounge is deliberately there.

In some cases it might be a noob who made a mistake. In some cases, it's a major news story that is a rightful exception.

But in the last few cases, it's clearly a deliberate effort by a few to broaden the visibility of their political or religious topic. It's deliberate choices like that that IMO could be subject to extra punishment at the discretion of the Mod.

Is there currently a rule that says you cannot post political or religious threads here? As I asked before, I thought during the off season everything was open until the draft, then after the draft until camps started setting up.

Not everyone has a hard on for religion like frazod seems to have. He can hate it here just as much as he can hate it there.

I find it shameful that Christians get more disrespect on this bulletin board than most I've seen. It's almost like if you are an NFL fan you are not supposed to be religious because the games are mostly on Sunday.

My point is that if you don't like religious type threads just stay out of them! That would be a very easy fix.

What about hunting threads? Some Planeteers are vegetarians and aren't exactly keen on the whole idea of murdering a poor, defenseless elk in cold blood.

Not that I have a problem with it. Personally, I love killing elks. The more elks I kill, the better I feel. The way I see it, the only good elk is a dead elk. Elks need to keep away from my ass.

But, I think there might be some people who would be offended by hunting threads and the murderous bastards who post them. Peanut butter lovers, and all like that.

That's an easy one Mr. FAX, those of us who own firearms and love to hunt, just hunt them down, shoot them a few times and kick a little dirt on them.

And my point is that we have an entire forum set up for you and your pals to whine about communism and brown people and abortion and how everybody who doesn't think exactly like you is going to hell, so why not post it there?

Nice name change, BTW. But if you're trying to revitalize your image, it isn't working.

An excellent idea, Mr. Bwana.

But, actually, I'd prefer to set several enormous iron bear traps they could catch their foot in and (after the initial shock due to excruciating pain and loss of blood has worn off, of course) be faced with the horrific choice of either dying of hunger or having to gnaw off their own limb.

There's never been an "offseason mode" around here. Poop threads are as welcome in the Lounge during the season as they are in the offseason. Conversely, political threads are as unwelcome in the Lounge during the offseason as they are during the season.

Are there rules that state political and religious cannot be posted here?

Your attempt to call me a racist fails badly. Abortion is something that everyone has an opinion on. I've never said, in my life, that if you don't believe the way I do you are going to hell. If you are going to hell it's totally your life choices and nothing posted by anyone here or in the other forum has an impact on that.

If you feel I need to have an image change you should probably post that in the other forum, it doesn't belong here.
