Game manager. What is that exactly?

During the course of the season the term 'game manager' has been used frequently to describe certain QB's in the league; usually in a negative sense. I was curious if there is a consensus on just what the heck that means to people here.

To me a game manager isn't a bad thing. I see it as someone who tries to keep moving the chains, and if that takes three plays of 4 yard gains, be it running or passing, that's ok as long as the chains keep moving.

Of course if the team is down by several scores, or time becomes an issue, then longer chunks of yardage would be necessary. To me a game manager would recognize that fact and try to manage the game accordingly at that point.

What do you all think? And is the opposite of a game manager a game mis-manager?

They're definitely gonna have to draft well, something I don't think they do.

How?

I'm not arguing that his contract will effect the teams ability to keep talent on the team...I'm saying that effect hasn't happened YET.

Honestly, I think I draft in the CP mock better than they draft in real life.

Pretty sad for them, that's for sure.

It's getting blown up after this year anyway, or at least I hope.

They let a 30 year old Brent Grimes walk (that was coming off major injury)
They let a 32 year old Tyson Clabo walk
They let a 35 year old John Abraham walk

I don't think Matt Ryan's contract had anything to do with those types of moves.

If those players are old and yet le them walk because of performance, why use that, them being gone, as a reason the falcons sucked?

They didn't suck. They were just past the age of when most teams like to keep players, otherwise you end up paying for something you don't end up getting.

Abraham had 11.5 sacks and Grimes had a really good year.

Age does impact a teams willingness to re-sign players to new contracts, and rightfully so.

You've done nothing but attack people who've said anything remotely critical of Alex Smith since the day he arrived in KC. You deserve every comment you get. You're just one step above the shameless SF dipshits that followed him here.

I could really care less what you think about me.

Game manager. Someone that is ask not to lose the game. Don't throw ints. Only makes safe throws. Relies on the defense and running game. The person cannot also put games on their back to win. General not great with down field throws or accuracy.

You can win with them. See dilfer. Smith. There have been a few more. Just hard to remember as they don't stick out once they are gone.

What's just plain... holy shit, wtf is...

People blame Eli, Flacco, Big Ben, and Ryan's contract for their team's struggles. It isn't that. What's amazing is here you have 3 of the 4 game managers whose dumbshit front office decided that these guys don't need a running back. Flacco belongs in this conversation because for some reason, Ray Rice was absolutely terrible this year.

I can guarantee you that all 4 of these QBs get their teams winning again with better running back play. I'm not all that crazy about Matt Ryan, so I tend to think he'll have less success... but better.

they also let Dunta Robinson walk

guess what team was dumb enough to give that guy a 3 year 15 million dollar contract. And this place thought he was going to play safety. LOL right.
