It makes no sense to fire a HC but keep the GM who hired the failed HC.

Exactly this and many of us called it when Kitchens was hired. Ron Rivera, from this year's crop, is the guy they needed. Someone the players can trust and respect.

Rivera would be smart to think long and hard before getting in bed with Dan Snyder. Same statement applies with Jerry Jones of course.

I said it when he was here, when he left and when he went to Cleveland.

He's a good scout, but makes for a shitty General Manager. He can identify some talent, but can't manage things well at all.

Had no idea how to put in a long term plan, no concept of what a strong team exactly entailed of or what particular players were actually worth.

He mostly excelled at just plugging in whatever the top of the board looked like: when the Chiefs had first crack at all the cuts in 2013 and siphoned a bunch of the NFC West cuts. Again in Cleveland where he had a pool of picks and picked early every round.

He can't actually manage a vision or paint the big picture of what a long term winner should consist of. He's just putting names in places without much thought how it'll all come together.

The polar opposite is depodesta. A guy who will overanalyze reasons not to draft Wentz or Watson. Imagine if impulsive Dorsey was there for that draft... Browns wouldn't need to pick baker out of desperation. Oppositely, imagine if the Browns listened to depodesta and hired Kevin Stefanski instead of kitchens. These guys have lots of talent but they need each other to beat the moron out of them. Make Dorsey the scout, depodesta the voice of reason, and Eliot wolf the decision maker. Problem solved.

I’m a Dorsey fan, but I think the general public give him a bit too much credit in the Chiefs turn around. Reid has always been the main man in KC

Yeah. And maybe that's part of the reason why they parted ways after a while. I don't know. What I do know is that Dorsey seems to have a problem with strong-willed coaches, hence the Kitchens hiring, as opposed to hiring Gregg Williams, a known head-strong personality. Who was a much better choice for HC over Freddie in every conceivable way except his dominating personality.

Maybe I'm wrong though.

Dorsey knows these Alpha male HCs want to the call the shots on personnel and why Kitchens was hired along with being much cheaper. Dorsey showing his King Carl by hiring Kitchens for sure and to your point. Once Marty was asked to step down King Carl never hired an Alpha Male Coach again that wanted total control even Vermeil wasn't that way and the only requirement for Vermiel was getting Trent Green because that defense needed fixing bad and King Carl did nothing when he could have. That cost us a couple of SBs no doubt with that HOF o-line with PH going off every week while Green matriculated the offense right down the field. But no defense, just a damn shame.

The Browns requested permission to interview Vikings offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski again for its head-coaching vacancy, according to multiple reports from Cleveland.
