Bieniemy definitely gone after this year

Enjoy him while you can. Sirius radio made mention that 3 teams are already researching him.

Gonna guess that’s the Jets, Lions and Bengals.

I just don't think Dorsey had anything to do with that.

The Buffalo guys were already in Reid's back pocket. McDermott, who was running that draft, helped out his mentor and friend.

And from what we know about Mahomes, Dorsey never scouted him in person nor did he even visit the Texas Tech campus. Kingsbury even said he never met or spoke with Dorsey.

Mahomes was all Veach and Reid, while Reid made the trade happen.

The Texans are such a mess, from roster construction to some really bad contracts to a dearth of draft picks, that it will take years to get out from under that catastrophe.

Fair or not, whichever coach takes over that disaster will be looked at poorly in the media because they're going to lose, and lose badly, for at least the next 3 years. And if they fire that Head Coach and GM, the process starts all over again.

The Texans are looking at the NCAA equivalent of the Death Penalty.

What's the old saying about actors who were "considered" for 100 different roles they didn't end up getting or 'passed on'?

"Good publicist, bad agent..."

Sly Stallone is said to have turned down a dozen different incredible roles in the late 80s and early 90s to make far inferior movies, most of which made no sense for Stallone at the time. In all likelihood, he didn't 'turn down' a damn thing.

But his publicist somehow creates the belief that Sly was going to be Forrest Gump or some other nonsense and suddenly there's a weird whisper campaign that maybe Sly's a good actor afterall.

Even if Bieniemy isn't ever a real consideration for the job - it can't hurt to be viewed as not being interested in it, IMO.

3 years later, their personnel is garbage, their QB is damaged, they no longer have a reliable backup and the team currently sits at 1-2-1, in which they lead the NFC East, again.

The point was that Pederson didn't face any "real" adversity upon arriving in Philly but since their Super Bowl victory, they've been on a downhill slide that doesn't seem to have an end. If Pederson can take this group of scrubs and the damaged QB and make some noise in the 2020 playoffs, I'd say it would be time to think of him as one my of the better coaches in the NFL.

If not, he's just another Jon Gruden: A coach that arrived at the right time with the right team and made it happen, then do absolutely nothing of note for a decade after. Being better than garbage isn't an indication of greatness.
From what I perceive, you act as if Reid took over a complete dumpster fire devoid of talent (which wasn’t the case) and that he was handcuffed to a QB.

Reid took over a team that had talent on it, but had an egomaniac of a GM who insisted on shoving Cassel down his coaches throats and refused to have any QB compete against him. I also don’t know what it’s like for a HC to take over after a player committed suicide and homicide like 5 weeks before under a previous regime, but I can imagine that was not an easy situation for a HC to come to and acknowledge that that part of Reid’s first season in KC must have been infinitely harder than anything Pederson has had to deal with.

Anyways, Reid also took over a team with the #1 pick, in which he could have take any QB, but hand picked Alex to be his first QB in KC (using hindsight, I think not taking a QB at 1 ended up being the right move. Depending on how one views Smith and his time in KC, it could be argued he was the right QB at the time for KC). When it was time, the franchise moved on.

Like any HC, they can only do so much with what they’re given. The Eagles “decline” is mostly tied down to Wentz’s health and Roseman not properly replacing talent.

All 4 of Pederson’s PO wins have been with a backup QB, and another PO game had McCown play a large part of the game. I don’t know how playing a backup QB due to injury in 3 postseasons isn’t facing adversity.

I’m not sure I follow?

The Bengals basically tore down everything after firing Lewis last season and are playing young players including Burrow.

It does not make any sense to get rid of Taylor if the team shows tangible progress (ie: 5-6 wins).

Mike Brown also is why they had to get someone like Taylor in the first place. He’s frugal AF and meddles too much.

Does McDermott have a good relationship with Reid, though? Gets fired after only a short stint as DC in which he really wasn't all that bad? Was it just ownership forcing his hand or what?

Yes, absolutely.

Being fired in the NFL doesn't necessarily end relationships and McDermott is still close with Reid, as is Ron Rivera and all of Andy's "guys".

I don't think he's a good coach. Period. I don't think he's good at building up a team. I don't think he's good at maintaining a team. Until McVay came along and hired him to be a position coach for two years (one of those was an assistant position coach, mind you) he wasn't a part of any remarkable or noteworthy coaching staffs. He did rise up through the Dolphins from 2012-2015, I guess, capping it off with one year as OC, his only NFL experience with that position in his career so far.

He was a stray pubic hair from the McVay tree back when teams would hire anyone remotely associated with McVay in his young coaching career. That's how he got the job.

And I get the NFL's obsession with hiring QB coaches to be head coaches. You want a QB whisperer. I get it. It's fashionable these days. But not all QB coaches make great head coaches. Some of them are just guys who know the position and they actually suck at leading an entire team. Some of them don't know their asses from anything other than the QB position.

Zac Taylor might prove me wrong, but more than likely he's just another bag of dicks.

It's likely that we won't know if Taylor is a good head coach because the Bengals roster is seriously depleted while history has proven that the Bengals are absolutely clueless about drafting and building a roster to compete for even a Division title.

That said, his best work so far has been not to **** up Joe Burrow.
