Yeah it would just end the same way with Alabama, Clemson or on rarer occasions, one of the other upper tier SEC teams winning in the end. Such a wide gulf at the top.

They would have to make it Conference Champions only get in. Without that you'd just end up with more of the same "Traditional" Powers voted in every year. Winning a Conference will no longer mean anything, the SEC will just keep swallowing up all the big traditional football schools and turn CFP into an all SEC Playoff.

It is #1 of the reasons he is a douchebag. There are 672 other reasons and counting.

Appearances by team
Appearances Team Wins Losses Years Total Championships Win %
12 Alabama 8 3 7 3 .727
10 Clemson 6 4 6 2 .600
6 Ohio State 3 3 4 1 .500
4 Oklahoma 0 4 4 0 .000
3 Georgia 1 1 2 0 .500
2 LSU 1 0 1 1 1.000
2 Oregon 1 1 1 0 .500
2 Notre Dame 0 2 2 0 .000
1 Florida State 0 1 1 0 .000
1 Michigan State 0 1 1 0 .000
1 Washington 0 1 1 0 .000
1 Cincinnati 0 0 1 0 –
1 Michigan 0 0 1 0 –

You pretty much get that already. Cut the list at Notre Dame and that pretty well covers the top conferences and teams. Ohio State will always be up in that mix.

I think the benefit of expansion to 8 is forcing teams to get through one more game. 'Bama caught a break today not facing a much better offensive team. Could they risk doing it 2/3 vs 1/2?

I still root for him to get hit by a bus from that day, but it turns out that he was an a-hole on top of it, which just justified my hatred of him more.

How many times did an SEC team get invited and not win the SEC Championship?
