Brett, around 2003 went to a charity event at Crown Center that had sports celebrities signing autographs. I had my 10 year old son with me. Everyone was pleasant (especially Carl Peterson which surprised me and Kevin Sietzer) George acted like he wanted to be anywhere else. He signed, but didn't say a word or make eye contact. We were the only people in his line at the time.

I got to meet several of the late 60s, early 70s chiefs since Emmett Thomas lived in the neighborhood when I was little. When I was seven my mom let me go to his house for an autograph. His wife took me upstairs and he invited me to sit on the couch with him while he watched the Notre Dame game. Man was I nervous. Mr. Thomas and his wife were great people. They would invite me over for parties with their kids and other players families. The first exposure I had to black people were Chiefs players. Pretty cool in retrospect being the white kid at those gatherings. What a thrill as a little kid.

Extremely nice - Walter Cronkite, Darrell Porter, Joyce Dewitt, Bruce Johnston. Worked with the late great L.C. Richardson at the Royals stadium club restaurant! We worked on the buffet together where L.C. carved the prime rib. He'd cut off pieces for us while we worked and discussed the women coming through the line. RIP L.C. I met several of the late 70s Royals players and execs through that.

Not so much, but that's alright - Howard Cosell, Earl Weaver, George Brett, Clint Hurdle (these were all short work interactions so no judgement).

I met the guy who played the pompous director in the Phil Collins video "Let it Rain Down" and he was as charming as advertised. Total douche.

All the other "famous" people I've ever met were cool. Mila Kunis and David Goggins were (sp?) was probably my favorite.

Bill Clinton never went to Harvard. Pretty sure you're talking about Tommy Lee Jones and Al Gore, as they were indeed roommates at Harvard in the late 60's.

I had front row 3rd base side tickets to a Cardinals/Pirates game and busch one time, and even though I didn't want to meet him, I saw Clint Hurdle being really engaging with the few Pirates fans that were there.

Cosell does not surprise me.

That is the second or third time I have heard about Brett. That always surprises me.

A friend of mine took his son to get an autograph from Dick Vitale at the Final Four in Atlanta in 2002.

It was a promotional event where Vitale was getting paid to sign autographs.

My friend told Vitale that him and his son were big KU basketball fans… Vitale signed their commemorative mini basketball “Go UK, Go ‘Cats” and his signature.

My friend said “No we are KU… Kansas Jayhawks fans” and asked if they could get a new mini basketball to correctly sign for his son. My friend even offered to pay for the new/replacement commemorative mini basketball.

Vitale told him to get lost and had security remove my friend and his 11 year son from the promotional event.

What a Dick.

Beat me.

Tony Gonzalez was a dick at the restaurant I worked at.

My cousin has a best friend that he grew up with and his sister hooked them up with a great job at FOX working alongside the announcers. My cousins friend was supposed to sneak John Madden out some kind of special exit where Madden could avoid the fans, he was notorious for hating his fans. His friend took Madden out the wrong exit where everyone was waiting to mob him. Madden made a grown man cry that day.

My wife and I met Carl Peterson in the south parking lot (next to the stadium) years ago. He was more than pleasant and took time out to chat with us for probably 4-5 minutes. Also saw him once at BB's Lawnside BBQ and he talked to everyone in the place. Everything (except how he dressed) just resonated as just a regular guy. I've heard similar stories like this from others several times. Sadly, I have heard nothing but negative stories about KC's biggest hero, George Brett.

With a guy like George Brett, the online guessing is that he has a net worth of $15 million or more. So why is he sitting at a table signing autographs? Would he have been roped into it by some professional contact? It doesn't seem like he needs the money. I wouldn't be too happy spending my day on that either if I was him.
