I posted that Smith is the consensus #1 FA offensive lineman. I have no idea what you're going on about. Others are freaking out about giving him a big contract. My opinion was that I don't have a strong opinion either way because we don't know the full plan. So I don't know what you're going on about. If they WANT to afford him, they can, and that's all I was saying. Don't have to be a genius to look up the cap numbers on Spotrac.

complaining about a 5th round pick not being a world-beater as a rookie is dumb.

And I haven't had long hair in about a decade so I don't know what you're on about.

It must be when I asked what was wrong with you? Are you having a rough time, bud? Is there something you want to talk about?

We don't need to go into Squatch's football knowledge just check out the Mizzou football thread some real doozies in there so I'm not surprised he thinks some day 3 pick is a viable Smith replacement

I've mentioned him once, ever. Suamataia is the one that I think should get that nod, especially if Veach isn't bluffing and they've moved off him at OT for good.

Kingsley will be competing at the LT spot with DJ. I said that a few weeks ago and people will hate it but it's the most realistic possibility. Sure it looks like there might be some decent LTs on the market but there's probably atleast 10 teams in need for a LT that could outbid us.

What I don't understand is why they would move on from Kingsley after essentially only half a season of playing at LT. You don't spend a pick that high and just walk after a few games

Again, disclaimer that Veach could be purposefully obscuring the plan, but he seemed to be pretty candid about both LT being the priority this off season along with DL AND Suamataias potential inside.

Which, yeah, I really don't get it either. At least give him another year of development at OT and see if you can at least salvage him at RT when Taylor leaves. Putting him inside now when there won't be a starting job available for at least a year just doesn't make sense to me.

Veach probably has 20 contingency plans and pivots he's already mapped out with all of the possible moves.

Reading too much into anything this time of year is foolhardy.

But IF they want to do this, they can. And the reality is that anyone other than Smith that's available will be a downgrade .

Not sure a about that. I think he’s good, but not great. We can find a guard who’s just as serviceable overall.

Yup and if you get serviceable play out of Kingsley or DJ you're already much better off. Plus you get maybe a healthy Pacheco Back, A top 10-15 WR back, and maybe things click with Wiley. A decent free agent or 2, hit on some draft picks you have a great shot at winning it again. They aren't going to play that bad again everyone needs to relax we ain't far off at all

I have no idea what he's going to do, and I'm sure he's got a line in the sand with Smith as well as everyone else, but it looks like a fairly crap FA class other than maybe two LT's.

It's a crap draft for LT's.

It's a GREAT draft for DL.

It's a GREAT draft for RB.

So I wouldn't be surprised if Veach says **** THIS and just signs Smith AND Jackson and takes his chances in the draft for defense and RB. It's a great draft to do exactly that.

But he never does what I thought he was going to do, so who knows?

he's not going to say he isn't interested in bringing anyone back when he's asked. That wouldn't be a good look and could potentially lower morale.
