If you believe it went down the way ESPN said it did.

I don't know, he just doesn't seem like the greatest teammate.

Have you ever heard anything bad about him prior to ESPN making a big deal Monday night?

Yes, I have in fact.

I remember earlier this year he got pissed off because some guy slammed his bat when he popped up the ball. Today he had to be in the middle of the fight.

So he doesn't like people showing him up and that makes him a bad teammate how?

For however long until it gets taken down here is Cueto earning himself what should be a pretty long suspension.

I was reading through a couple of threads on a Reds board last night. Damn, they hate us, especially Carpenter. I had no idea he was so reviled by other teams. Apparently to other fans he's the A.J. Pierzynski of pitchers.

Well, **** 'em. I certainly enjoyed the anguish in their game thread during that 7th inning defensive meltdown.

He is definitely old school and pretty intense. The thing with Ryan was way overblown. Ryan is a head case with severe ADHD, however he has a plus glove and Carpenter himself has actually supported him as the starter especially when he pitches. He needed his ass chewed out the first time, the second time is what happens sometimes in the heat of the moment. No different than Jordan dressing down a player or Manning or whoever. Winners expect their teammates to step up. That said, he should just keep his mouth shut about the fracas. He could have taken care of it "old school" when the real "lil bitch" comes to St. Louis next month.

First off, he was supporting his teammates when the benches cleared. Scott Rolen was just talking to him and trying to hold him back, then a couple players mistook what he was doing and the mad rush happened.

Second, he wasn't crying in the post game interview. He was actually hilarious. The main point he made was you don't kick guys with spikes on in a baseball fight. His last comment about Cueto said it all, "I don't know where he learned how to fight".

It wasn't an Olympic boxing match, it was a ****ing brawl. It was obvious carpenter was the instigator, because he started jawing at baker. Any team will defend their manager. And he definitely came off like a crybaby in the interview cueto kicked me in the back, waaaa waaa

Phillips was right.

Dude, you're wasting your time. Chenz is a good dude, but his hate for anything STL clouds his judgment.

Had that been his boy Greinke getting kicked - nevermind that a player was kicked in the FACE - he'd be defending him to the death, and rightfully so.

Had Phillips not given Yadi the tap, acting like everything was cool, nothing would have ever happened.

Personally, I'm glad Phillips is running his yap. He can keep talking, AFAIK.

We'll keep winning ballgames.

I imagine Phillips would have gotten beaned and as long as he took it like a man and walked to first, then it would have been over. The unwritten rules of baseball would have taken over and the players would have known that was what it was for.
