That's fine, but Sophomore Smart was a better player than Freshman Smart, though, so that doesn't make all that much sense. He cut his turnovers significantly, raised his assist rate and was more efficient offensively in his 2nd year.

If KU had Sophomore Smart this year (the best PG in the country) to replace the team's biggest weakness (the PG position), I strongly suspect they would have also been the best team in the country. With a healthy Embiid anyway.

Speaking of good PGs, there are rumors Staten is going to declare for the draft. That would set WVU back once again, right when they looked like they were getting relevant.

It looks like UT, BU, and OU will be KU's toughest competition in conference next season. Not sure how ISU will handle losing Kane or Ejim (their two best players by far).

If Selden can make the kind of impact Smart does on games, he'd definitely be going top 5 next year. Major strides left to make, though.

I think Hoiberg's a good enough coach that they will be pretty good. I mean, they still have Niang.

Never worried about Baylor. Because Scott Drew.

OU will have to learn to play defense.

Texas could be a problem.

I think he can. I forget who said it, but "the best thing about freshmen is that they become sophomores."

I think he's going to take a gigantic leap. Most players' development happens between their freshman and sophomore years.

Yes, I think Texas will probably be the best bet to make a run at it. So young and so talented.

I only say Baylor because Isaiah Austin is growing into more and more of a force (as we're seeing in the tournament) and he's likely going to be sticking around. But they always do somehow find a way to underachieve during conference season (doesn't help that they have no home environment at all).

I expect him to get much better. I remain a big fan of his as a prospect, there is major potential there.

Also, Eron Harris has asked for a release from WVU. It doesn't look good for them.

If we're actually concerning ourselves with stacking up to this lame ass conference, then we are in worse shape than I thought. I always compare us to the top-10 teams nationally when a season starts. But too many still focus on the football schools in our league who play hoops in their offseason. 11 straight, yay, high five?

Tyler Ennis doesn't agree. But you put either if them on the team and we are still playing.

So Scott Drew has to be off bad coaches list by now, right? He underachieves during the regular season but overachieves in March. (We do the opposite). That is a good thing for a coach if you ask me, since March is what people remember. It would be interesting to swap them and see how they do at each other's program. Since as you note, Baylor has no fan base and their games are 1/2 empty.

Scott Drew would love the resources and the support and the prestige KU offers.
