Justin's amazing, no doubt. Would be a crazed fool not to be concerned about him.

As for how the SF defense owned Philly... I think it simply comes down to Foles having one of those crap days where nothing goes right. There were open targets and enough time in the pocket at times, and the QB just flat out failed. He looked nothing like the Foles of 2013. The KC o-line isn't great, obviously, but they will put up a better fight than the broke-dick Philly line.

For all the people thinking SF has a great Offensive line, Football Outsiders has the 49ers O-line ranked 30th in Pass Protection, with KC's O-line ranked just below them at 31st.

The 49ers O-line is just as dismal at Pass Protection as KC's.

Meanwhile, KC is ranked 13th in run blocking, while SF is ranked 16th in run blocking.

So much for the myth of the dominating 49ers offensive line that Kaepernick is playing behind. He is running for his life, just like Alex is.

So, since you believe in those stats so much, their QB rankings must be true too.

http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/qb

Alex Smith, 11th

Colin Kaepernick, 21st

Sounds about right.

Sure why not. It is no secret Kap is struggling early again. But it is early yet. Teams gel. QBs find their rhythm.

The difference between an intelligent football fan and an Alex Smith Ball Washer, is that the intelligent fan knows and accepts poor or mediocre play by players he likes. The Alex Smith Ball Washer only excuses poor play while redirecting discussion to every Alexcuse under the sun.

I have always maintained that Alex Smith is a smart, dedicated good NFL starting quarterback around 16th among 32. That he is playing the 11th best early in the year is very much possible. Brees, Brady, Rodgers, and Luck have all been struggling early. Does that mean Alex is better than Brees, Brady, Rodgers and Luck -- not to the sane. Only to the Acolytes of the First Heart Church of Alex Smith (Reformed). To the rest of us, talk to me in week 17 when the entire season has run its course and most QBs have reverted to their mean.

The right tackle has been out injured all year. Scratch one first round pick.

The center is a 1st year starter at center and Boone the right guard who is a beast, held out all camp and was held out of the first 2 regular season games.

Our backup right tackle is Jonathan Martin from Miami -- the guy Incognito made cry -- and so far he has been very soft and very much the revolving door at right tackle. But we also seem to really miss our Pro Bowl center from the last 2 years, who is back again hiking the ball to Drew Brees. We should have kept him one more year.

Who said that he was better than Brees, Luck, and Rodgers? He is certainly playing better than Brady is right now, a lot of QBs are.

All I said was that he was better than Kaepernick. That's funny because Kaepernick clearly has the better supporting cast around him, and yet he is rated significantly lower. Kaepernick has also been in the same system since he got into the league, Alex is in year 2 of Reid's offense with new faces all over his OL.

I love how in the prior post, you speak of NOT making excuses for your liked QB, and accept that he is simply struggling... but then instantly proceed to make excuses for your liked QB. That's gold!

It will be a tough road game, but if KC can get a solid mix and good production from Charles and Davis - that will bold very well for KC's chances of winning.

Losing at SF is nothing to freak out about, but a win there would be huge. Who cares what anyone says if that happens.
