This is so unreal. We were dead. No hope. A season over. Somehow, someway we find some team chemistry and squeak into the playoffs on the last day of the season.

Only to find us facing one of the best pitching staffs assembled in years with home field advantage. We somehow, someway find a way to beat the best pitcher in baseball on the road in an elimination game.

We have to go on the road and beat the team with the best home record in baseball. A team who mortgaged their future to make this run .We somehow, someway find a way to beat them on the road and make our 18th World series trip.

We take game 1, we give away game 2 and home field advantage. Albert goes off for probably the best performance in World Series history and we take game 3 easily. Games 4 & 5 our bats fall asleep, Phone gate happens and its not looking too good.

Game 6, one of the best baseball games of all time and it takes place in a season ending go home game. Cardinals are down 2 runs in their final chance on the season, twice. They are down to their final strike of the season, twice. They give up a 2 run homer in extra innings. In the bottom of the inning their final 3 batters are a combined 3-26 in the Playoffs and a pitcher because the bench is empty. Somehow, someway they get some runners on and the comeback player of the year drives in the tying run. Mr. Freese hits the walk off home run. We will see you tommorrow night.

Game 7, With our bulldog on the mound pitching on 3 days rest he is able to give us 6 good innings and get us to within 9 outs of our 11 World series title. Texas meltsdown, probably left over from last nights game and its over.

The underdog, come back team who had no business even being in the playoffs wins a World championship. They make movies about events like this in life. Events that you remember even if your not a fan of the sport or team for the rest of your life.

When it is your team.......Priceless

Baseball's a tough sport at this level - adding a degree of difficulty by playing a 2b at SS and a one-armed utility man at 2b doesn't do you any good.

Trading Brendan Ryan for a sack of balls doesn't get you 1.2 wins everytime you score more than the other guy. There's nothing gained by making things more difficult for yourself.

Someone would be wise to remind LaRussa of this.

Good work, Albert.

I appreciate what he's done in a Cardinals uniform, but if we pay him $30M a ****ing year after this season, we deserve to roam in the cellar with the Astros and Cubs for the next half-decade.

He's chased more pitches out of the zone in a half-season than he has in his first 10 years in the league.

Oh c'mon - that was at least a little bit awesome, right?

I loved me some Izzy, easily one of my favorite Cardinals. A standup professional, even when LaRussa kept sending him out there to get his head kicked in. Meanwhile Pujols has been a surly asswipe this year and hasn't seen a double play yet he couldn't ground into.

I'm sorry to say that watching Izzy break a foot off in his ass was pretty damn entertaining.

Didn't I bring that up on here somewhere? Or was that my Cardinals board?

I was trying to get some momentum behind the Beckham/Rasmus swap some time ago. It's a very good fit for both sides.

Though I'd rather send them Berkman (I think they'd take it, given their needs and how open the AL Central is) and ship Rasmus for some pitching.

Whatever we do - blow the damn team up. This team isn't going to win anything without a legitimate #2 starter or major league middle infield.

Look at that OF with Pierre and Rios out there making outs in bunches and being generally horrible at playing baseball. Rios struggles pretty badly against righties as well, so a guy that hits righties hard is important. The Sox don't have a lot of room in their budget to add talent, so a guy on a reasonable contract is pretty important.

Enter Lance Berkman and his 1 yr deal with, what, 3.5 mil left on it? Berkman has mauled righties and would be a huge boost to the Chisox lineup. Some folks are balking on a Berkman trade as a 'giveup' move, but not if it nets Beckham.

Gordon's struggled this year, especially against lefties. However, he's shown flashes of the talent that made him the #8 overall pick just 3 years ago. I can't believe that the kid's just forgotten how to play baseball.

Is this team a better team with Beckham at 2b and Craig in RF than it is with Skip at 2b and Berkman in RF? I absolutely believe it is. And it's significantly younger and cheaper to boot.

There have been rumblings about Williams making Beckham available and they're evidently trying very hard to upgrade that OF. Why wouldn't you make this deal?

I said that over a week ago. Later on I threw out Rasmus/Lynn for Beckham/Sale.

Somebody's been stealing my ideas. Someone should totally give me the keys to a major league club. I guaran****ingtee you that I'd never spend $100 million and forget to acquire a ML shortstop.
