The Chiefs ran a two-minute situational period on Wednesday, and two players stood out:

On defense, linebacker Dee Ford was a terror for the opposing quarterback and offensive line, racking up sacks and causing QB pressure on nearly every play.

However long it takes. All of those other guys are just training camp warriors at this point.

If Dorsey decides he'd rather go forward with March and Wilson then so be it. He knows a shit ton more about these guys than any of us do. Until that point ill argue that the plan to keep Mauga has its merits.

Wonder what they are going to find out with Houston in a couple weeks...

there's really only two possible outcomes IMO. Either A) they find out he's about ready to roll for some practice or B) they drop the hammer and say he may not play at all.

Hopefully the Ford hype is legit...

I wanna see it first, in the regular season, but ideally he will be good enough to start opposite Houston by season's end.

Funny, I don't think he's particularly useful when DJ goes down. Mauga can't even begin to do what DJ does; just too athletically limited.

That said, when we have DJ and he's allowed to play the Ted backer role, he's a pretty solid football player who came a long way last year in maintaining his responsibility and giving up his body to make the play.

When he's replacing DJ, he's a liability. When he's playing alongside him, he's no worse than serviceable and at times was pretty good.

Mauga has been supplanted in his role as DJ's backup. If DJ goes down, March takes his spot. Mauga serves a purpose, IMO - but it isn't what either of you seem to think. As a serviceable starter alongside DJ, I think he has some value. And as a guy that knows the defense well enough at this point, it's just one less thing that DJ and Berry have to worry about when aligning things.

That clip is why I don't really like 1 on 1 drills for evaluating anyone and WRs are near the top.

Sure, when Hill gets to just run unmolested over the middle, he's going to get separation (and who is 45? That was pretty poor work by him). But he's also not going to have that much green in front of him. More likely than not, some ILB would be looking to break him in half on that route or a safety looks to light him up. In either event, he's not going to be free to just double back and try to jet around the DB like that.

You just don't learn much on most of those plays, IMO. You see when guys **** up more than anything (like Peters poor defense on Streater in the first play; got torched and the throw was late/short).
