Sherron was never the most efficient player on even the best of days. Took a lot of difficult/contested shots. I also believe him trying to do too much when KU fell behind UNI was the biggest reason they lost that game (our worst loss of the Self era considering that team was by far the best in the country). Still, that effort/will is an admirable quality and one that most of our players these days could use. He wasn’t afraid to fail.

Right. I agree with you on the UNI loss, but that attitude won us several games too.

On the whole though, I'm against that approach. I'd rather see an approach like Taylor, who would blow by his guy and then look to dump it rather than take the tough shot (even though he passed it to Connor Freaking Teahan too much)

I'm still a bit hacked at his 2-7 free throw shooting in the 2003 NC.

Nick Collison's 3-10 outing still haunts me as well, but his immediate contributions at KU make me forgive that a bit more.

We were not "by far" the best team. We have never been by far the best team.


We have been the best team two or three times in our history, and it was by tiny margins

Met him at a party a few months back. Media always made him seem like a lazy jackass. Quite the opposite actually. I left the party and ended up walking home (phone was dead couldn't get an Uber) he pulls up and gives me a ride. We talked about his time at KU dudes an open book and a very nice guy. Said he's running a few businesses these days. Seems to be doing well.

Lazy he was not. I don't know how he was in the weightroom (he appeared fairly pudgy) but the dude got after it. Glad he's doing well.

I haven't watching him much in the NBA, but he wasn't particularly aggressive at KU. He could have done what he did in Morgantown against whomever the hell he wanted to if he'd just go get one. There wasn't anyone staying in front of him in the NCAA. The NBA is a different animal.
