It's just that you want to believe your team (and the players on it) represent your city.
It's naive these days.. but it can be unsettling. |

Kaepernick is currently not being paid "well" to sacrifice his body to the NFL. Under the new CBA, he's earning a nice living but I know plenty of people that earn as much as him (and far, far more) that don't deal with the issue of paralysis, amputation, loss of career, etc. and so on, as a job hazard and certainly not on a daily basis. |

Of course not. But I'm alluding to competition at the individual level, not the corporate. You think that universities within the same athletic conference want their peer institutions to close their doors?

I understand this line of thinking, but the players don't owe me a thing other than to give it their all in terms of winning games. Beyond that, they don't owe me a ****ing thing.

Contractually, there are PR appearances almost certainly in those contracts, so, the situation is a bit more complicated.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick thinks it’s no big deal that he likes to wear a Miami Dolphins hat. His coach may disagree.
When 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh was a player, he made it very clear that he didn’t like seeing anyone wearing an opposing team’s colors. In fact, in 2000, when Harbaugh played for the Chargers, he got angry at Jim Trotter, then a San Diego Union-Tribune reporter, for showing up at Chargers practice wearing a 49ers sweatshirt. Harbaugh said it was “pathetic” that Trotter would wear such a shirt, and he refused to answer any of Trotter’s questions. “I don’t talk to anybody in a San Francisco 49ers shirt,” Harbaugh told Trotter. “How could you wear that out here? . . . Seriously, man. How could you wear that out here to a Chargers facility?” Trotter responded that he’s not an employee of the Chargers, and Harbaugh said he wouldn’t talk to Trotter as long as he was wearing 49ers gear. “I don’t answer any questions from anybody wearing the enemy’s jersey,” Harbaugh said. Harbaugh may have something to say to Kaepernick about wearing the enemy’s hat. profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/07/06/colin Kaepernicks dolphins hat recalls an old jim Harbaugh spat/ -'s instead of spaces, or just copy and paste the first sentence into Google. |

He should be smart enough even at a younger age, to NOT be caught wearing another teams gear in the same league he plays in. But hes not, he got defensive, showed his true colors, got defensive, and I guarantee you, that Patrick Willis, who stated on twitter that his fave team growing up was the cowboys, but BLEEDS RED AND GOLD, wouldn't be caught DEAD in Cowboys gear. Its just not smart. Especially when the franchise just bet THE HOUSE that you are the present, and shipped off a very good second option.

And yet, if he took the Chiefs to within a minute of the Super Bowl this year, you and I wouldn't give a crap.
