Reading back through this thread I noticed a few comments related to trucks and associated performance such as towing and hauling. I’m wondering if the Ford Lighting is changing any one’s mind on electric cars. It seems to have really good towing and hauling performance and isn’t too far off in price from similar gas versions. I’m fairly certain at this point I’m going to get one next year.

They were talking about the new Electric Hummer yesterday on CNBC. 1000HP 0-60 in 3 seconds 350 mile range.
Hmmmm! And it does the crab walk. https://www.gmc.com/electric/hummer-ev Last edited by Hog's Gone Fishin; 10-05-2021 at 12:35 PM.. |

That'll be it's hangup until they figure it out. I would love an electric pickup with infinite torque and near zero maintenance. |

For those of you that have one, how much does running your AC, radio, headlights, etc. cut into that 300 mile range? I rarely drive over 150 miles in a day, but it would seem to me that any system that uses battery power would limit your driving range.

However, the HEATER can be pretty significant. Electric cars generate very little heat on their own (due to the high efficiency), so they counterintuitively need quite a bit of juice to heat the cabin up (think space heater in your house). You can assume you'll lose at least a chunk of your range on the coldest days. It's a pretty big impact on our Leaf (with a 40 KWh battery, we lose probably 30% of range on the coldest winter days), but I would imagine it would be more modest (maybe 10%) on the F150 and its ~125 KWh battery. |

Do you own an Electric car or plan to buy one

How much range do you need when hauling? And think it would be different if you lived in a bigger city? The range isn’t really an issue at all for me but just curious from a work truck perspective. The frunk is awesome and it seems the interior has most features a regular high end F-150 has. I was always interested in the Tesla just because I’m thinking truck for my next car but there’s no way I’d go with that weird thing over the Lightning. |

Damn. If they can actually meet these specs, I might have to consider a truck...

Sounds good to me. That's some good range considering the tow specs. I wonder how lame the $39,000 package is considering fully loaded is $105,000. It's probably just like a work truck or something? I'm not a fan of the little extend thingy behind the cab though. Just make it look like a regular truck for God's sake.

If 100k = 400 miles does the 40k model go 100 miles? Is the 40k model even available to a retail customer? As fast as vehicle costs are inflating it'll probably hit the market with a $90-150k gap on a 15 year note riding on a 10 year predicted battery lifespan. |

I wonder what the range is while towing. That what will be the big one for me.

It would fix their biggest problem of being subaru powered.
