it didn't fail because of the plan, it failed because they didn't follow the main rule, the Elite QB must sign a team friendly deal. Rework the deal to get more cap space when asked by the team etc.

Because they didn't draft well.

It's all ****ed if you don't draft well.

Of course they had a JAG TE as well. Kelce and Gronk make it at least a viable plan. You need someone the Dee has to double.

Yeah this 5-year draft history is cringe worthy. It also highlights how difficult drafting in the back half every year can be. But the Packers have actually had a lot of bites at the apple. 2 first-round picks in 2019 and 2022 and never a year without wo of the top 62 picks. Makes me love Veatch even more

Green Bay Packers
Year No. Round Pick Player Name Position College
2022 1 1 22 22 Quay Walker LB Georgia
2 1 28 28 Devonte Wyatt DT Georgia
3 2 2 34 Christian Watson WR North Dakota State

5 4 27 132 Romeo Doubs WR Nevada

2021 1 1 29 29 Eric Stokes DB Georgia

5 5 29 173 Tedarrell Slaton DT Florida

2020 1 1 26 26 Jordan Love QB Utah State
2 2 30 62 AJ Dillon RB Boston College

They actually haven't drafted awful....they just didn't really hit on any big weapons for the offense.

But their biggest issue is that their QB melted in the championship game multiple times. We can't talk about that thought for whatever reason.

Don't forget Taylor. I'm really convinced that with his athletic tools, he could be a fairly big upgrade over Brown.

Yup.

Not allowed to point out that had Rodgers played to the same level Mahomes has played in the the post-season, he'd have at LEAST one more trophy on his mantle.

He had an awful loss to the Seahawks back when he was in his prime, an equally awful loss the next year to Arizona and then a game against SF where they were getting pretty well abused in the trenches but he never really gave them a chance either. That TB game a couple years back was one they should've won but my memory is that he completely gacked the last couple possessions even as Brady couldn't stop throwing interceptions.

Rodgers has had plenty of opportunities to add to his hardware count and hasn't come through.

In the end, you pay your QB that much, you need him to play to that level. I don't really care to hear the complaints about "they needed to draft more or do this or that".

They were good enough around you to get you to the NFCCG. In a one game sample size, I need you to nut up and be this all timer you want us all to recognize you as.

He never did, but god forbid we discuss that.

Posted this in the draft forum but still relevant.

Does Veach think multiple WR’s will fall to his range? Everything I’ve seen and heard suggests that Veach is a big fan of Quentin Johnston.

That makes a lot of sense to me bc after JSN he seems to stand out with different features than Flowers, Hyatt and Addison.

Hyatt is my favorite fit of the top guys but I guess Veach doesn’t feel the same way

Rodgers and Brees have had so much cover run for them that it just blows my mind.

Meanwhile Mahomes has one bad half vs. Cincy and arguably the most impressive ass-kicking I've ever seen against TB and suddenly he's like the 5th best QB in the AFC.

Brees is the one that really annoys me; he's definitely shit the bed the worst. He's had some real stinkers in the post-season and all anyone does is apologize for him.

Richie James accounted for just under 25% of the Giants' TOTAL passing TD's last year.

If he could do HALF of that here, he'll finish with just under 5 TD's here. Passing volume is going to make a world of difference in evaluating guys like him.

If he was good, then he wouldn't have been an UDFA. Sure he had some great seasons, but he had a pretty major surgery. Guys that have been injured get drafted all the time. Those super talented guys don't drop all the way out of being drafted just because of an injury or 2. It's more than that with Ross.
