*.* 2014 General Fitness Thread *.*

Welcome to 2014! Now get your ass in top physical condition!

No one else started it so here it is!

**From the 2013 Thread**

If you want to get back into lifting, or need a new lifting routine, START HERE:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wi...inner_Programs

If you have questions about the SS programs, look here:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ

Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started.

Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE:

http://madcow.hostzi.com/5x5_Program/Linear_5x5.htm

If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point.

I just figure front squats will help with that.

Yeah, they start out correct, but I tend to let them dip whenever I squat.

Yeah, I'm lucky that my wrists are pretty flexible. Otherwise, I'd have to do cross grip, which always feels way more unstable to me.

That's what sucks. I know how awesome deadlifting is for you, so I REALLY don't want to give it up. But I'd rather be able to bend over. Or, you know, use my back at all.

Go a bit lighter until you get form down. Look straight ahead. Not up, not down.

How high do you have the bar? Should be high enough you think it is going to choke you.

Cross grip is extra weird. Unstable is one way to describe it.

Has anyone tried this multi-V pack?

A friend recommended them and said he only takes them on workout day. I was surprised by the amount of warnings when they arrived and it kind of spooked me but the two times I've taken them I've had some top notch workouts.

Why do you think you need to be active during the day if you eat carbs? I sit on my butt all day and eat around 250-300g carbs total before I even get to the gym, which is late at night. Then eat more when I get home.

Anyone have experience with Rogue Fitness power racks, or any home power racks in general? I'm looking at the R6 for my house. With child #2 on the way, I need to be able to train when time permits.

Just takes getting used to. I can do cross grip much more comfortably the clean grip.

Funny you should say that. I was working on getting the form down, and my trainer is standing there looking at me and asks, "Are you choking right now? Because you look like you're choking right now. You really should breathe when you do these, so let's move it off your throat."
