Duncan, I think you're just going to have to cave to Hamas' demands and give him what the Cards need: A power-hitting middle infielder.

Yes, I'm saying we trade St. Louis ... Yuniesky Betancourt.

Also: John Jay? Really? Look at his MiLB numbers and tell me you really think he'll duplicate this next season.

But hey, if you want your Cards to run out an Of of Holliday, Jay and Allen Craig, go right ahead.

If you weren't, well, you, and had read my original post, you ywould have seen: reasonably priced leadoff hitter/of (long-standing area of need + need opened by trade) a good pitching prospect in position to help faster than anything in the Cards' system, and an open spot.

2b Jonny Giavatelli could slide into the third spot just as easily as the reliever or high upside MiLB starter.

Hell, I'd even consider Christian Colon.

Moreover, DeJesus makes 11 times what Rasmus does, and he has shit power.

Outside of Pujols and Holliday, there isn't one person on the Cardinals roster who has 15 homer power outside of Rasmus, who has legit 30-20 ability.

Colby Rasmus was the #3 prospect in all of baseball. This year, while being ****ed around by an idiot manager, he's put up better numbers than Justin Upton, and both are separated by less than a year.

duncan idaho, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point during your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this thread is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Craig has 30-20 ability. The Cardinals traded Ludwick because Jay had 1 hot month.

Reasonably priced does not equal good, Duncan. I'd much rather trot out Skip, BRyan, Lopez, or Jay in the leadoff spot. Plus, they come at a much cheaper cost.

No one said Jon Jay was the second coming. He's a 4th outfielder, just like....David DeJesus.

Craig has a better future than Jay, as Rams fan notes.

Furthermore, if you knew anything about the Cards' farm system (you clearly don't, since you completely misread the needs of the team), you'd know that right handed relief pitching is one of the system's only strengths. We don't need another right handed reliever.

Salas is going to step into the 8th inning role sooner than later, Eduardo Sanchez is a right handed k-machine who has torn the Texas and Pacific Coast League apart this season. Jason Motte, despite being inconsistent as hell, has one of the best power arms in the NL, and Kyle McLellan is the most trust-worthy reliever.

All are young, cost-controlled right handed relievers.

So, explain to me again why we'd need to trade for DeJesus when we have Jay, another RRHP when we have the aforementioned four, and a projectable SP??

It would basically be the equivalent of the Chiefs trading Jamaal Charles for a dynamic kick returner and a run of the mill left guard.

Fair enough. That's a pretty bad leadoff situation, but OK.

I have a hard time seeing Craig as a 30/20 guy when he's never reached either total in the minors, even when repeating years.

And Hamas. Coleman was a first thought. As I mentioned in the original post, that could be changed to a second SP prospect or a middle infield guy like Giavatelli or even Colon as the negotiations extended.

I see DeJesus as a good fit because of his ability to lead off. You can call him a 4th OF if you want, but he'd start for most teams in baseball.

No frigging way they are going to trade Rasmus. Period. He has the potential to be a 10 year All Star. You dont trade talent like that.

But when you can pick up a guy like DDJ, who does every thing Jon Jay does, except not quite as well, for 10x as much, and add more RRHP help, when we clearly need so much, and another starting pitcher that is years away from helping a team that is built to win now, you clearly do it.

I only hope the Chiefs trade their 2011 1st round pick for Ray Rice. They need another dynamic RB with pass catching ability.

I would imagine it has to do with the fact that Tony LaRussa is a miserable one who sucks the penis with an obsession with playing inferior veterans (Winn, Schumaker) over superior young talent.

He doesn't like sitting against left handed pitching. He doesn't like to be managed old school like Tony gives it to him. He's a product of the positive reinforcement era. Yelling at him doesn't motivate him.

Ludwick hit .281 in 77 games with StL, he's hitting .218 in 33 games with SD. He's been shit as Adrian Gonzalez's protection, and hes most responsible for our 10 game losing streak, IMO.
