I guess the appeal is pre-ordering the game and getting those reeruned perks and shit like weapon skins and stuff? I don't know. |

I may give it a go when it hits PC. I've managed to avoid GTA before this one, but it sounds like a poignant game.

I'm going out at midnight to pick up a game because **** it I cannot wait to play GTA, that's why.
I'm making the same expression Laura Mayberry is making in my avatar, and similarly there is a ginormous smile beneath the "oh my god what am I doing?" exterior.

I KNEW I WOULD BE BACK HERE TO BITCH ABOUT THE PSN STORE...
and actually it is going pretty smoothly. I am getting the same speed i usually do from PSN. It was buried in the store, but once found smooth sailing. Now I can get a full night sleep and spend the day off work playing GTA. I even bough my wife a massage so she cant complain.

I love it already. A lot of little mechanical things Rockstar did in this game seem Valve-level smart and user-tested. The driving is more responsive, and not by a little (at least in the sporty car I drove). I didn't expect much from the story but I've already laughed a lot more than I expected. Shooting feels pretty satisfying, and I love the new player/enemy animations. Hitting people with cars is more guilt-inspiring than ever, because it's so brutal and sudden.
The customization interfaces (like for clothes) have been blessedly Saints Row menu-ified. And also, an early part of the game takes you right through a memorable spot from San Andreas. I haven't played it enough to take in the scale of the map, but uh, wow. And and and...

Grand Theft Awesome, unless youre one of those people with just the 4GB HDD on 360. Game requires that you have at least 8GB free to install disc one. You can then either install disc 2 as well, or simply play the content from the disc, but you absolutely have to have 8GB storage on 360 to play.
Minor nitpick, they're still using A for the goddamn sprint. SOME OF US LIKE TO TURN OUR CAMERA WHILE WE RUN FOR OUR LIVES, R*!! Heh. That aside, the hour and a half I spent with it was loaded with awesome. Driving is phenomenally better than 4, and the cover and gunplay system is right on point. Gunfights are a helluva lot of fun, and that's really a GTA first for me. Seems like you can finally use weapons besides an SMG while in a car as well, as I fired a regular pistol out my window at someone who wasn't moving along fast enough. They got the message. Streamlined the radio stations into a weapon wheel like menu, so that you can flip to your favorite station, or if youre like me, turn it off, instantly. Minimap is great, allows you to see a lot of area around your location and GPS guide gives you a line to your destination. If you get messed up, your character reflects that with visible injuries and bloody clothes that persist until you return home and save the game at the bed. I took a bit of a tumble off of my BMX on the halfpipe and looked like roadkill. Quick Save option available through the cell phone when not in a mission. Thank You Jesus. The ability to replay missions becomes unlocked at the end of each mission, so that's cool. With as many ways as there are to approach these, this ups the replay value instantly. That's about all I have for now. I didn't play very long. Did a few missions and laughed out loud several times at the dialogue, so really looking forward to more of that. The big installation time, and downloading my ability to fly the blimp really ate into my play time this evening. Calling it a night, and playing some more tomorrow. Everything points toward this being a ****ing masterpiece.

Yup. So good. So so so good. My biggest complaint so far is a relatively minor driving thing: I'd rather the cam pull a hard reset to centered and behind you if you click the right stick, instead of the slow flip from the back view to the front. Maybe that's just my Euro Truck Sim config tricking me. Aside from that, the driving feels exhilarating. Cars feel out of control but it's not that hard to Fast & Furious it the heck up. When cars break, they break REAL GOOD. It looks spectacular and the amount of detail in this game in general blows my mind.
Everything works so well, and I just had my first classic GTA police chase. I walked up to a firefighter, he called me a piece of shit, and then he shoved me. Bam, the cops are looking for me. I ruined my car (the Futo I didn't have room in my garage for ), stole a cop's sweet red sports car, and ended up gliding through back alleys at 100000 mph until making a soft landing in the Los Santos River. Then I drove into deep water, the car died, and I ran up the embankment to the other side. At some point the cops decided not to chase the innocent subject of racial profiling, so I stopped walking to admire an impressive view of the skyline at twilight. I tried to use the photo uploading stuff (I guess it's not stored locally at all =[), and it's a beautiful integration in theory but I've only managed to successfully upload one so far. Maybe when the game is "officially" released or whatevs the servers will work. Or there are just eight hojillion people already crushing them. And I totally agree about the dialogue, totally exceeding my expectations. Lamar in particular has some great lines in the few missions I've played. This really feels like everything I wanted in a GTA game, and the anticipation of Online in two weeks is even more overwhelming now that I've seen the incredible canvas it's being built upon. Also plus also, YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY THE RADIOWNS. It's my favorite part of the GTA experience and I'm adoring it so far. I also love the dynamic score that plays when you're out in the world. I haven't liked a game this much since -- uh, Gone Home I guess. That's not that long, but still!

(It's cool, she's not dead. Just stretching.) These people just gave me another Skate, basically. Minus the skating. Maybe.
