He needed it.

We saw the talent. Then the Suh game really kinda ****ed him up. By the time he left Mizzou he was staring at the rush and really wasn't tapping into his ability.

You're right - never thought of it like that before. If he could've been drafted by a guy like Reid and they'd have broken some of those bad habits he'd built towards the end at Mizzou, he could've been a really good long-term starter, IMO.
