97 was stacked for sure. I was a freshman at KU that year and had a front row seat for that team. I loved that team and they broke my heart. 08 I watched on TV, but they never broke my heart. Stopped it for a minute, but never broke it. I'll take 08 for doing what no team has done in the history of the tournament over the team that couldn't handle a 4 seed, elite as they were talentwise.

02, 03, 10, 11, and 16 were National Champion level teams that couldn't cut it.

LOL We didn't win it all but we're the reason you don't like Duke

08 is the best team I ever saw play. The UK team that beat TyTay and TRob was more talented, but the 08 team was a better team, certainly more fun to watch.

The 97 team was nasty, but they didn't play with the intensity that the 08 team did. The 08 team had a real **** you streak after the whole UCLA dogshit.

I personally have a soft spot for I think it was the 02 team. Boschee and Heinrich played as fast as anyone I'd seen to that point. They were impossible to guard in transition.

Imo 2012 and 2018 were Self’s best coaching jobs at Kansas

Also they shot 27 free throws to our 13.
They were so gutless and our guards got owned. We were down 13 with three to go which explains the FT disparity anyway.

Watched it at Johnnys when I was a student at KU. Walked out and girls were all balling. So gay

It's 2008, which is one of the greatest NCAAB teams ever.

The 2008 team had the 3rd highest adjusted efficiency margin of any team in the KenPom era (2002-2023), with the only two other teams better than it having lost in the tournament (2015 UK, 2021 Gonzaga).

2008 also had the highest SRS of any team in KU basketball history since 1949 (when it is first measured on BRef: https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/kansas/).

For me, the 2008 team, and the 1997 team, are so close, but the 2008 team has to get the edge because the won it all.

And that 2008 team is currently, and may always be, the only team to win the National Championship when all four #1 seeds made it to the Final Four.

I don't always like it, but I would never fault a kid for leaving early, but I was so, so disappointed that the eligible players on that team didn't come back.

I believe that if all eligible players had returned, that team would have went back to the Final Four, and would have had a chance to repeat. Florida had just went back-to-back with returning players, and I really thought our players would come back. But, we know how that turned out.

My thoughts exactly. Hard to top winning the title when all four #1 seeds were in the Final Four. Plus, the way they destroyed UNC in the semifinal was just masterful.

That was a team of destiny. Sure would have been nice to see what they could have done with Chalmers and Rush coming back.

97 will always be the team to me. Such a good team that was upset by Arizona. I still hate Bibby & Simon and for the rest of their lives I wish nothing but constant ingrown toenails & an itch in the back of their throat they can't scratch.

That was an absolutely loaded year in college basketball.

Guys like James Harden and Blake Griffin were damn near an afterthought.
