Can't get me on the blacktop... but I'd love to get a gravel bike since we have some pretty epic grave grinding around here. I ride every weekend, and I usually can ride once or twice during the week on days I work from home. When the days get longer, I'll pretty much ride daily, even if it's just a few quick laps on a flowtrail or hill repeats outside the house. I used to be into long day in the saddle putting in miles, but since I ride more and more with my son, we end up sessioning lots of jumps and such, not necessarily putting in miles.

I need to come down your way and ride some gravel. Just not much gravel in the Branson area. |

Nice countryside around Comfort, Texas. Also, lots of folks using their MTBs on gravel rides around here. |

We've been really fortunate. Riding is my son's main focus, and he's pretty much been able to do it MORE as a result of COVID. With virtual schooling, he can ride for the majority of the day and then do his schoolwork at night. He rides and competes at a pretty high level, so that's been awesome. It's also his primary social outlet, and he's been able to still ride with friends (socially distanced) and see people on the trails and such. Contrast that with one of his friends who's a nationally-ranked youth sport climber (2nd in nation for his age), and he hasn't been able to do a real competition AT ALL during COVID, and has been pretty limited on how much he can train in the gym. Just as he's really taking off in the sport, it basically gets shut down.

I didn't get signed up in time for the Little sugar last year, but I already have it on my calendar to get it done early this year. That does look like an epic awesome race. I also signed up for the Chinquapin Holler last year, but that canceled. That looked like a good course too. I see where you are hosting the Joe Martin stages races for the pros, I am hoping they open the gravel ride up again for the Amateurs. I hope unbound gravel (AKA Dirty Kanza) doesn't cancel, but I would not be surprised if it does. |

Funny you should say that about climbing. A friend of mine's daughter is a nationally ranked climber(she's in her 20s) and I know her competitions have been shut down as well. Really sucks. |

As much as he likes racing, he spends a ton of time on his DJ and BMX as well, working on tricks and such. Here's an edit he put together of some riding down in Florida: FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:540px; min-width:326px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);"> FFFFFF; line-height:0; padding:0 0; text-align:center; text-decoration:none; width:100%;" target="_blank"> 3897f0; font-family:Arial,sans-serif; font-size:14px; font-style:normal; font-weight:550; line-height:18px;"> View this post on Instagram

Time for another bike edit from the boy. He broke his arm at the end of the filming for this one, so he's out for another 5 weeks. Sucks, since it's at the start of race season, and he'll miss a couple of national races he was going to do:

Hey bike guys got a quick question, my father in law found a bike and brought it over to me, trying to find out some more about it.
It’s a Lemond Buenoes Aires 853 Reynolds, or something like that, did a little looking at it seems like it’s supposed to be a pretty good bike. I doubt I will keep it since it’s a road bike so I’m trying to collect information on it before moving it along. |
