We are not taking a QB in the first round

Just the official thread stating it. I'm not sure why some of you are already blowing this horn.

Just keep reading the title of this thread until it ****ing sinks in.

And I'm not even a Cassel fan, but he's going to be given more than 1 season to show he is or is not the guy.

I know all the bullshit arguments that will come forth.

"He's not a rookie, he's a seasoned vet" blah blah ****ing blah. I don't give a shit. I'm talking about reality. They gave him 60 mil. Even if Cassel never improves on this season (which I actually think he will, even if I'm not a fan), GM's don't admit to failures that quickly. Pioli will give him every chance to prove that he's right. He drafted him, he signed him to a 60 million dollar contract. Those of you you think that Pioli is going to turn right around and draft a QB with our first pick are ****ing morons. Yes, you are. It's ENTIRELY out of the question so please stop wasting discussion time with it.

Thank you and have a nice new years day.

Unless Sanchez ends up being a franchise QB, there isn't any lost opportunity there, IMO. And, odds are Clausen will be drafted before our pick in this draft, and unless you believe Bradford will be a legitimate player, then nothing out there either.

Not necessarily so in the upcomming draft. There is much speculation floating out there Suh goes to the Rams. Detroit does not need a QB. And Casserly said last Sunday it isn't a done deal that Locker is going back to school. Stay tuned.

seriously ... that's alot of crap do without rolling the dice on a bunch of new players.

this year sucked but imo it's too early to kick Pioli in the nuts about it.
Laz.... I really don't understand this line of thought. We've been a terrible terrible team for 2 years. It's obvious to everyone that there wasn't much talent on the team. We knew there was a possibility of an uncapped year after the CBA expired.

There was absolutely no reason to stand pat and evaluate anything this year. None. We're already at ground zero, start building already, there is nothing to lose.

It doesn't take an entire season to determine that a team that only won 6 games over 2 years doesn't have much talent. In fact, the talent areas should have been even easier to identify. 95% of the board could have told you what players had a chance to excel this season. When only 5% of your team is actually talented, the evaluation process isn't very difficult.

"Rolling the dice on a bunch of new players?" What's the risk? Seriously?

And honestly, the didn't even really limit anything personnel wise. They brought in over 40 new players.

Look if you ask me what I think of a player I'll be honest about it.

I wasn't sitting here pimping Kyle Moore, most of the SC players I've pimped hard have been good, Rivers and Cushing being the obvious 2. And even I don't think Taylor Mays should go ahead of Eric Berry so yea.

I've always been very frank about what their players are and where they will likely get drafted.

look at the 10 teams that will draft after us that are in need of franchise qbs

bucs...out of game /Freeman
redskins...new gm/hc...new QB?
browns...they need one, but might not be done with Quinn yet
seahawks...they need one
bills...they need one
bears...they need one
titans...out of picture
49ers...need one and have multiple first rounders.
jaguars...need one
panthers...need one

Thats a pretty good market of teams that would be competing for his rights if we took him in an Eli Manning scenario.

If Suh and Berry are off the board and we feel we can get similar value at a lower spot, we should take Claussen and trade his rights.

All this discussion, and we're still not going to take a QB with our first or second round pick(s).

I'm pretty sure everyone knows that, it doesn't mean that some won't have the opinion that we should do it though.
