Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

Now I don't know about you guys, but fans of Skyrim/WoW/etc. would like this game that hits stores 2/7/2012.

-The Developer is Big Huge Games. Responsible for titles such as Rise of Nations and Age of Empires III. Not very popular games but I think this one is worth looking at.

-Published by Electronic Arts, so graphics will be top notch. It is single player RPG.

-Available on XBOX360, PS3, and PC.

Trailer here:

Yep. I don't know how that escaped me when I posted my "cheat". I did it probably 3 times and never noticed until later.

Speaking of slow - we had a brief discussion earlier in the thread about great swords and I said something about "yeah, but if I get in 1 hit, it's game over".

I found an azurite great sword last night. I'm also getting into the sweet spot with finesse that allows me to wear some decent gear with critical hit bonuses.

I gulped when I saw my first Thresh in Haxhi - then I hit it once and took 3/4 of its hit points.

This. I'm actually disappointed that I haven't found more magical creatures that are resistant to flame. Might make me change it up a bit.

One other note on flame - make sure you have SOME, even if it's a beginner weapon with +3 flame. There will be areas with spider webs that you can't access if you can't burn the webs away.

That's what I'm saying. I'm like level 15 with about 400 hit points - if I get down to 25%, a SINGLE MINOR heals me all the way to full. As long as I have about 10 on me or so, I can charge into any battle without worries.

I had thought about stashing some of that gear in my house just in case I decided to see a fateweaver and change my playstyle, but my Mage is just so badass I just cant bring myself to do another build yet. I imagine Ill be finishing the game out with all points put into sorcery.
Same here. I have quite a few points in Mercantile so I'm constantly hovering around 100K gold now, even though I buy 4K weapons just to see if I can break them down at the blacksmith bench and get some good components.

well apparently there are a lot of old people playing Amalur then because there's a 25-page thread about it in the Amalur forum.

I guess the devs have had so many people bring it up that they are working on a fix.

A fix for what? Is it exclusive to the PC version?

That's just weird.

Was watching a Conan from last week that I dvr'd last night, turns out Curt Schilling is part of the company that made this game. He was on promoted, and gaming was so much of a hobby of his during his baseball career that he is now in the business end post baseball. Thought it was interesting.

He played World of Warcraft for years. Wasn't this game intended to be the toe into the pond, so to speak, for an MMO?

This game started out as an MMO but I believe it was taking to long. I think it's still going to be an MMO....but they wanted to release the SP game to get everyone involved in the storyline first.

btw - if anyone else has eye strain or headache problems from Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning it helps a lot if you tweak a few settings.

1. disable 'post processing'
seems to get rid of much of the graphic 'blur' you get from the tight camera movement that causes the seasickness type effect.

2. turn down/off shadow effect
helps reduce the strobe light flashing you get from close FOV

3a. increase your resolution up as high as your computer can handle to 'shrink' the FOV and give you some artificial distance to help tight FOV.

3b. turn down visuals as needed to increase resolution for game

4. turn down camera speed all the way so the view doesn't 'spin' and 'jump' around as much.

5. plenty of light around PC monitor to reduce glare and brightness from game.

I always say **** it because the curses I do get really don't bother me to much and they're cheap to get rid of.
