This is simple. You will play 4 CB's in nearly every game. Who cares who starts? I want 4 solid guys where there isn't an obvious guy to pick on by the opposing QB. Plus, when one goes down to injury (likely at some point), Williams or Baker or whoever else makes the team slides into the 4.

So much this. It’s one of the most important positions to have depth. What’s the first thing that usually happens when a starter goes out and an unproven guy comes in? Even the announcers always say it. “Oh the QB is going to go right after that unproven corner.” It can ruin a game.

Get as many as you can.

Wouldn't be a bad idea if it's a team-friendly deal. Just assumed that it would take a lot.

I like Fenton's upside and attitude, but I think he is very grabby and thus more prone to penalties.

2021 Snap Counts Penalties
Sneed: 918 snaps, 5 DPI's, 0 Holding
Ward: 753 snaps, 2 DPI's, 3 Holding
Fenton: 533 snaps, 4 DPI's, 1 Holding
Should have added Bradberry for comparison:

1159 snaps, 3 DPI, 1 Holding

Minnesota had three more hurries last year and twenty more sacks.

this is fascinating.

Part of this equation is the amount of time the QB has before he releases the ball. We'll need that info to determine what your "hurries" stat actually means.

If the QB has all day to throw, that's not a secondary problem. That means the DL just isn't getting it done, despite the secondary holding up. If he's getting it out fast, that very well could be a secondary problem.

Until that rank is presented, the #5 in hurries doesn't mean much because we have no context.

It is, but I’m not surprised. So many times I recall opposing QBs just barely missing the grip of someone on defense, way more times than I ever recall seeing in a single season.

Guys just brushing their fingertips on the shoulder pad and just whiffing for one reason or another.

It could also be that the Chiefs had a tough schedule and the 1 seed schedule, so they played a lot better veteran or talented QBs and didn’t play against hardly any inexperienced scrubs. The only QBs they played last year that would be classified as inexperienced were: Burrow, Daniel Jones, Heinecke, and Jalen Hurts, and each of them had at least year one under the belt. The only rookie QB they faced was Jordan Love, and they wrecked him.

Beyond that, they didn’t have to play any of the truly dreadful teams last year like the Jets, Jags, Seahawks, or Lions. This is all to say when you’re playing better coaches teams with veteran or talented QBs, they’re going to be better at getting the ball out quicker.

I wonder if, like turnovers, there is some element of randomness to hurries vs. sacks year to year.
